There are growing demands for FIFA to consider using both male and female referees at future Women's World Cups after out-of-control Cameroon players were allowed to foul England players with impunity at the end of Sunday's round-of-16 tie.
Former England captain Faye White echoed the views of her ex-international team-mate Casey Stoney in arguing that there should be a mix of both, also insisting that the debate cuts two ways.
The men's game also had a part to play in allowing female involvement, raising refereeing levels before future tournaments to ensure they play a full and credible part.

The inference is that either (a) female players cannot adequately respect a female referee, or (b) female referees simply cannot do the job. If the 1st, bounce out the offending player(s) with red cards until the coach gets his/her players under control. If the 2nd, never assign female referees to that level of play.
Someone without a better option, such as gouging one's eyes out with a red-hot spoon.
“Anyone watching third world kickball must be semi retarded”
It’s not just third world kickball, it’s FEMALE third world kickball. “Semi” retarded is overly generous to those watching kickball performed at the level of an under 15 boys team.
LOL... that made me laugh. John Lithgow played transexual in the world according to GARP. Roberta...aka Robert. LOL
So many lesbians.
It is the same as watching the team warm-ups at an NFL game, everybody playing catch and running around. Then going home feeling satisfied that you have watched the elite players at their best!
What a warm up!
:: You dont put people on notice ::
You have a nice discussion about continued federal funding with the COACHES priot to the tourney.
Trump could do this but, meh, he’s busy saving the US.
:: They could spice it up by making it rugby style soccer ::
Isn’t that what Cameroon did here?
Diagram all the movements in a soccer game. You have an endless series of squiggles...usually with few scores. “Negativity problem”? I think it might better be described as a
“reality problem”. From my very positive perspective, I am positive that this “sport” belongs in third world****holes. Just because many watch it is no indication of its value. Obviously, I believe staring at the sun is preferable to watching soccer. To each his own.
I grew up on baseball. Now can’t stand it. Still enjoy college football. I converted to soccer at the ‘94 World Cup and never looked back. The international aspect of soccer is really fun. Especial in Europe. Instant connections with the locals.
There are a lot of “inside soccer” subtle things like baseball has that only advanced followers of the game understand. There is a match on TV pretty much whenever you want to watch. The Budweiser Soccer Girls at matches are nothing to complain about, either. Ha ha.
Inside Soccer? How silly. Follow a real sport NHL hockey.
But if you are saying that soccer is pathetic//
Maybe its pathetic maybe not, but its most certainly BORING.
There are no English referees at the tournament because the FA did not deem any to have had enough experience.
ANY ref would have had problems in that England-Cameroon game. When the quality of the teams is so disparate and when several close calls go against the weaker team, trouble will brew. The VAR may have been correct, but controlling the players became even harder after those reviews. Here, one team has almost no history or culture of sportsmanship. The foul on Houghton as time expired was criminal, straight red stuff.

I was disappointed with Cameroon ladies...
In the past, I have seen Cameroon men’s team play in the World Cup...I don’t remember those guys being out of control...Samuel Eto’o was an excellent player. He was born in Cameroon.
I have no problem with a male referee supervising a women’s game...I have seen a male referee working in a WPS game many years ago.
WPS was a women’s pro soccer league in U.S.
After seeing some of the refs at the WWC in action, I’d bet they would reconsider that decision.
