TinyPic is shutting down in 2019
www.tinypic.com ^ | ?/?/2019 | Unknown

TinyPic is shutting down its image hosting service because we can no longer support a free service that derives 100% of its revenue from ever declining on-site ad revenues. While you may continue to host images from our site until further notice, we encourage you to consider selecting one of the premium plans offered by our sister site, Photobucket.

Thanks for using TinyPic for your hosting needs over the years. We apologize that we can no longer continue providing this service, but Photobucket is a great option going forward.

The Golden Age of the internet is coming to an end.
It already has.

Unnngh..

Lots of great stuff (Not all) gone forever. Sniff.

Reference bump for cloud photo storage. Doesn't quite fit the thread but its pretty cool (#5251)

So many forums’ content are becoming ghost ships with broken links.

Thanks photobucket etc

My bud who specializes in affiliate marketing says once Ebay rejected tp for their links, he already knew they were going under.

Re my #21 on this thread - I was just thinking about the Unngh thread and how many pics/gifs had disappeared and there you are with the latest post.

#5422

Pure coincidence. Not stalking you honest.

I think TinyPic was acquired by another company a few years back (I'd guess, photobucket). It would be nice to have have another free parking that I could use with this poor old machine. Maybe I'll just go back to all-text.

Not sure — the Golden Age of the internet was probably back before the emergence of Google and its vertical integration. Used to be loads of free email sites, for example, and the, uh, consolidation of that happened 20 years ago.

Tinypic is calling PB their sister site. Buy out the competition. Shut them down. Essence of a monopoly.

Photobucket has repeatedly broken the internet.

When the internet breaks, it takes months to vacuum up the mess.

Yep - I have used tinypic for year - I had noticed their ads had grown far more intrusive - but they now say there isn’t enough money in ads - so they are pushing folks to pay up for the $7.99 per month photobucket account. A person can get cheap web hosting and just use it cheaper than that a month.

The whole purpose of offering free use of other’s work is to get people interested and fine tune the product to a salable entity...

True. Either that or you’re offering free use to get views for advertising. But apparently the advertising model wasn’t profitable for some of these photo hosting outfits.

Download the app.

On Amazon.com go to Account and Lists - Your Account - Amazon Photos.
