Stopped Using Shampoo and Hair is Better
Me | Expatcanuck

I’m almost 60 and have had a full head of obsidian hair all my life. It started thinning out about a year ago. I quit using shampoo about a month ago (just rinsing and scrubbing with hot water) and it has started to grow back in and thicken (caveman like, LOL).

I know a lot of it is genetics, but makes me wonder if the chemicals in the modern shampoos and soaps are screwing us up genetically. Anyone had any similar experiences.

To me the trick is to have 5 or more different shampoos and rotate to a different one each day.

Thus, each one rinses out the residue of the shampoo of the previous day and does not build up.

Hope that helps.

Swim daily. Chemicals in the pool are harsh and do horrible things to your hair.

On Amazon found a shampoo and conditioner designed specifically for swimmers. Since using pool shampoo and conditioner my hair is now silky, manageable and healthy.

I’ve been using the fancy pantsy stuff from places like Sephora and Ultra. The high end brand stuff, LOL.

I’m 62, don’t have that much hair. But I’ve got all my teeth and never had a cavity. Its genetics.

In the ‘6o’s, my grandmother used to rinse our hair with apple cider vinegar diluted with water.

Most shampoo is designed for 21 year old white girls. If your hair is not too long, water and maybe soapy water is all you need. Your hair does not benefit. You scaled does. Don’t use shampoo too often. We bath too much and we shampoo way too much. Its gotten to the point that we are not used to the smell of people. Our bathing is not healthy. Its just a habit that perpetuates itself and is pushed on by P&G. Americans bath more than any other country, but our life span is not higher.

A dry shampoo aerosol can shot out of this St. Peters, MO hot car and landed fifty feet away.

My great grandmother died at 105, in a motorcycle accident so I know genetics plays a great part 😊

About a dozen+ years ago the gal, who did my hair retired. Before she did, she told me to save my money and to treat my hair and skin with a really good product.

Suave Kids 3 in 1 Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash 24 ounces for about 5$/ bottle.

I spend about $5 every 3 months with this great product.

One son had long curly hair was spending a lot of money per month hair care products and dry skin products. He went to this product about a decade ago and still uses it with a normal hair cut. He said that change saved him $100’s dollars every couple of months.

His older brother started a getting a hard hat bald spot and has had hair that stunk after he sweated. He went to The Suave 3:1 about the same time as his younger bro. 10 years later, his bald spot is the same size and his wife say his hair doesn’t stink when he comes home after a day of under his hard hat.

Their daughter has long hair and the cost for her hair products was outrageous. They told her to buy her own shampoo or use the 3:1. Years later she still loves it.

Their younger son had crazy hair like his uncle and it stunk after his wrestling practices/matches. He use the 3:1 and love it. So do the young women in his life. His 3 new college room mates have made the switch. Each one buys a different version/flavor, so they have a choice.

I have an EXTREMELY musky, oily complexion. Even if it makes me go bald, I can’t afford smelling like a skunk.

I recently started washing my hair with apple cider vinegar. Took care of the problem I was having with my scalp, (doctors and their BS medications were of no use or help). No more scalp problems, hair isn’t falling out and hair is much thicker and growing back where it had been falling out previoisly.

I suspect the creeping crud I had on my scalp came from a barber who doesn’t sanitize their equipment.

“oily conditioners included. All of that leaves residue.”

That residue is what makes your hair shine and comb smoothly.

I am 57 male and still have 95% of my hair.

Hair started to get thinner 5 years back.

I only wash my hair every other day now and take Biotin for hair and nails. Stuff really works.

My hair stopped falling out and grew back
