My question is how many people had it and didn’t know.... just thought it was a cold. They wont be in the statistics.

And then....if one comes down with a cold now are they supposed to self quarantine for weeks? Whos going to do that?

Chaos.

I believe that China is using CT as the definitive test from something I read yesterday, but I can’t tell you what it was.

The CT scan is an “indicator” but not “proof.”

The broken glass thing looks funky as hell though. I hadn’t seen that before.

I am placing a hand soap pump bottles in our home bathroom and kitchen.

That’s what we’ve always had, in all of our bathrooms/kitchen.

I fill LARGE pump bottles, for ea location.

They started using it in the middle of last month (hence the HUGE increase in cases around Feb 15.)

The have since gotten their testing protocols up to speed and they rescinded the process.

It is an indicator, but it is not definitive.

I think it was when they were out of test kits. CT is a lousy screening test it is expensive not specific and exposes the tested individual to radiation . If test kits unavailable i would go with the clinical diagnosis. That is what we did with the first wave of west nile meningitis through a naive population . If your symptoms fit you were presumed to have it

Looking at a map, Williamson looks like it is one county south of Nashville

“We are more spread out. Even in our cities there is more “personal space” here in the US.”

I have an exception to the statement:
We have very homeless population living on top of each other in Waikiki, LA, San Fran, and Seattle.

The local governments need to move fast for those populations. Not sure how they would handle it.

Do we have any high populations on the East Coast?

And cases with no symptoms, negative tests can have the abnormal findings on CT. It is crazy

I do not know the accuracy of these statistics, but at least it is updated and current.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1043366/novel-coronavirus-2019ncov-cases-worldwide-by-country/

Remember, the “infected” numbers are grossly understated. Only severe cases are reported.

“DEATH” statistics are more reliable since you can’t fake being DEAD. You can only hide being dead for just so long before people notice.

So a death rate of 3% is greatly overstated because the base number of infected people is unknowable.

Human nature getting in the way of the best layed plans when people like him have no concerns for others....just as those who lie they’ve been cleared when they haven’t been in order to get past authorities to get home....”We have a business to run”...is not an excuse.

Yup. As i said before it is expensive, nonspecific and involves radiation. In the absence of a molecular test I would think the right clinical picture and neg flu/rsv testing would give you a presumptive diagnosis. By the way physicians who treat corona virus patients are to keep working as long as they are asymptomatic

This is why we should look at the economic impacts of this.

Wholesale “stay home for two weeks” statements from companies is going to kill productivity.

I wonder what social norms will be changed forever because of this. Working from home will change these measures in ways that we cannot imagine today. Figure those out and you will make millions.

Think of how much the water cooler crap will be cut down. Make-up sales will drop. Commercial real estate prices will drop. Square foot per employees will drop. Distributed network equipment will sky-rocket.

Just a few thoughts of how to really look at this “crisis.”

The answer to your question is many.

The Dr in Italy said it doesnt show up on an Xray in the beginning....you test negative..but you can have it. You are released and come back later with shortness of breath and it shows up on a CT scan and you test positive

I theorize that younger people do get it but are better at fighting it off and thus dont test positive because their viral loads weren’t high enough.

A poster here has a young son who has friends that were visiting in Milan Italy that are convinced they got it. Said they have had worse

NEW YORK - 2 new cases

Two more people in New York City have tested positive for coronavirus and are hospitalized in an intensive care unit, bringing the state’s total to 13 cases, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday morning.

Neither case — a man in his 40s and a woman in her 80s — has a known connection to travel or any previously diagnosed local COVID-19 patients, marking what appears to be fresh community spread in New York City, de Blasio said. City disease detectives are tracing close contacts of both new patients and will ensure they are appropriately isolated and tested.

Because they soon after tested positive. The CTs were being used for dx while patients were waiting for tests
