It is “normalcy bias”... All the talk about “elderly at risk” is _not_ helping.

Agreed.

True.

So they’ll have domestic and export (to other states) ICU cases.

:-(

In re your comment about people in hazmat suits not decontaminating -

I see that all the time in San Francisco. Not hazmat suits. People walking around in their scrubs.

Pants, tops, head gear, mask usually loosely around their neck, and sometimes the booties.

Are they on their way to surgery? If so they are bringing who knows what to the floor. Aren’t they supposed to scrub and dress right next to the operating room?

Or are they on break or some with their shift? In which case what on earth are they spreading around, benches, stores, buses?

What is up with this? I have seen it for years. We have lots of hospitals.

Will “asymptomatic positive” infect others? Experts remind: stay vigilant in daily life details

In popular terms, asymptomatic positive is asymptomatic infection.” Chen Dechang said that, like many other diseases, there have also been a certain number of asymptomatic people carrying the new crown virus since the outbreak. “Generally speaking, this group of people has a strong immune function, and even if the body carries the virus, it will not cause large numbers of reproduction and cause tissue and organ disease.” Asymptomatic people have the ability to transmit the virus. When the virus load in the body reaches a higher abundance, it will have a stronger virus transmission capacity, but if the virus load abundance in the asymptomatic infection body is lower, the ability to transmit the virus will also be relatively weak.

In addition, different virus subtypes have significant differences in their ability to spread. Chen Dechang introduced that the National Science Review, sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently published a paper jointly completed by researchers at the Bioinformatics Center of the Peking University School of Life Sciences and Shanghai Pasteur Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Recently, 149 mutation points were generated, and two subtypes have evolved, namely, the L subtype and the S subtype, which show great differences.

“The S subtype is a relatively older version, which is more similar to the bat-derived coronavirus in the phylogenetic tree, and is not as strong in transmission; the L subtype is more invasive and more contagious. Large-scale transmission is more closely related to it. “He introduced that after studying 149 mutation points, scholars found that the L subtype is more common, accounting for 70%; the S subtype accounts for 30%. . But whether asymptomatic infections are mostly S subtypes requires further understanding.

People in Italy eat with their hands, eat off of each other’s plates, hug, kiss

I know, right?!? Of course here 'Murica, we eat everything with silver ware! Like Burgers and dogs, fries, pizza, bbq ribs, fried chicken, sandwiches, tacos and burritos, chips, popcorn, bagels, egg rolls, and hundreds of other dishes we eat with forks! Or at least a comb! Those Italians on the other hand, DISGUSTING! And sharing plates, hugs and kisses! OMG don't get me started!

TGKK, put down the fork and step away from the keyboard...

I think we can make mostly all of our own stuff here.

Some may take some time but this is AMERICA let’s go.

Seize the opportunity. We are not victims.

Please add Turkey to that list! Look at all the crap that Erdogan has pulled over the years. He is trying to cause a complete collapse of Europe unless he gets his blackmail money.

technically, a retweet of Dan Scavino (who is that?) tweet.

Trump’s retweet read, “who knows what this means, but it sounds good to me”

Exactly!!

I keep waiting to hear a “Let’s Roll!” cry, from leadership, for the uppiing/restarting of our basic necessities.....beginning w/our Rx meds.

Heck...I’ve said it before....we screamed when our (MIC) pet food was found to contain melamine. Nowdays, just about EVERY pet food/treat is made in the USA....yet, or vital meds are still being MIC???

Doesn’t make a bit of sense why We the People are tolerating this.

Oh, yeah....lower prices. (While BigPharma and Congress turn a blind/paid eye.)

And we know Saudi Arabia is on the whole, colder than Baffin Island. /sarc>

God I'm pissed off at the Flu Bros.

Let's look at costs from a different perspective. If Disney World shuts down tomorrow, how long should it remain closed?

Who pays for mortgages, rent, utilities, groceries, shoes, etc. for Disney workers while the park is shut down? Secondary fallout: hotel, restaurant workers. Who pays their bills for the duration of your immediate and unknown duration Disney World closure?

What could happen (and actually did happen in 1918) is that local people got together and pressured their local officials to do a local quarantine and keep out outsiders.

It is easier in remote small towns, of course, but once a couple of towns did it, the idea might spread like wildfire, and the states might even catch on...

Maybe I am overly optimistic...don’t know...
