Beto O'Rourke is back is the spotlight as Texas continues to face a statewide crisis.

Hundreds of thousands of Texans remain without power Thursday morning as millions more deal with burst pipes and other consequences of unprecedented winter weather. O'Rourke, the former 2020 Democratic presidential and 2018 Texas Senate candidate, has been making the TV rounds to call out the Republicans who've shifted the blame for the power shortages — and is organizing to check in on senior citizens throughout it all.

On Wednesday night, O'Rourke announced he and volunteers had made more than 150,000 wellness calls to seniors throughout the state. And in an interview with CNN, he called out Republicans, including Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who have inaccurately placed most of the blame for the power failures on Texas' renewable energy sources.

“Look, I like Cruz. I’ll continue to vote for him. But he screwed up.”

Well put...we have no choice, except to Primary him out. If he couldn’t figure out that a trip to the tropics is not all that smart when your voters are literally freezing to death, then there’s really no hope for him.

Beto is a fool, pure and simple.
If he likes, he can challenge Ted Cruz in four year's time and he will still get clobbered yet again.

“He needs to have been out there threee days ago organizing transportation and warming centers.”

Or sitting home doing NOTHING. If he had something that simple, no one would have cared about him, at all. It was very easy to get right!

So plan a vacation...just don’t take it because yahoo is going to trash you?

The media will stop at nothing to hit Republicans...

Who cares about the media.

Last time I checked, this is a State matter...no?

My friend near Brownsville showed me a video yesterday...he doesn’t have power, but across the street the neighbors do.

Weird.

Cruz did something really dumb. Not on purpose or malicious just a dumb choice .

Um, nope.

If a Dem did this, we would 100% be criticizing them.

I wouldn’t even be bothered in then least.
Dems do far worse sh*t everyday and I don't even bat an eyelid.

Why am I posting this? Because there are dozens of FReepers on dozens of threads today who cannot understand that Cruz made a drastic blunder.

I don't need a NANNY STATE GOVERNMENT!! I don't need a public official to hold my hand in a natural disaster. I don't expect a public official to "pretend" to be concerned. I don't expect this site turn in to KAREN REPUBLIC! Ted Cruz can enjoy his vacation.

Senators are not leaders. That’s why they make for bad Presidents.

Quite a remark. Got me to thinking about senators who became president.

Nixon was the last best senator/president. Then - sadly - Kennedy would be second. But Nixon was a VP. That gave him gravitas.

Why isn’t Beto calling for the national guard from Biden?

Why isn’t Beto calling for FEMA support?

Why is he “making a volunteer” effort to register voters?

The whole story is BS.

Unless he’s providing food and heat and support he’s doing NOTHING.

The Democrats almost never gang up on one of their own for doing something inappropriate.

That's because for Democrats, the issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

That’s one of the many reasons why we lose.

We have something they don't: principles. We judge everyone, ourselves included, according to those principles. As a result, our side always suffers, because our people who show themselves lacking in principle are judged by our side. Democrats who show themselves lacking in principle, however, are only judged by us, which gives the Dems a double advantage: they can cover up for their people, and then complain that all we do is refuse to work with them in the spirit of bipartisanship (i.e., doing what they want).

Some day we will learn not to give a damn about principles, and live by our version of their primary rule, that the issue is never the issue, the issue is always the Constitution. Then and only then will we be able to overcome the enemy. Whether we will be able to look ourselves in the mirror afterward is a separate issue.

This is yahoo "news."

This is NOT a drastic blunder.

What could he do sitting in his house with power going off.

I wish I had thought of going someplace warm.

How many people actually did go to a better clime?

Besides, he may have promised his daughters a vacation after all the election stuff, if so, then it is perfectly justified.

Cruz just has to say that Beto was trying to take away senior’s AR-15s and standard capacity mags, the “negative optics of this narrative” will disappear quicker than an ERCOT board member can scrub their contact information ...

“Beto is a leader.” Good one. A real rib-tickler

It is at or above freezing in every major Texas city. This is all massively exaggerated to challenge the narrative that Texas is more successful than left-wing states. It is not government’s job to make sure you or your neighbors can survive a few days without electricity.

Further, what cost would be worth paying to make sure Texas is better prepared for a once in a century deep freeze? To me, the answer is not much.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz flew home from Mexico Thursday, amid outrage over his trip during a crisis-level storm in Texas — explaining he was only chaperoning his daughters and their friends on the flight.

The Republican lawmaker was seen getting back on a plane to the US on Thursday afternoon and issued a statement explaining that was not on a vacation himself, but was accompanying his daughters on a flight to theirs.
