Monday night, drivers along Theodore Street in Joliet got a shock, when a 10-foot long ball python slithered across the road, stopping four lanes of traffic.

...The owner, who did not say how his pet got out, took the pet home without further incident.

“You cannot leash a snake.”

It’s more practical to buy one.
Oops, thought that was “lease”.
Nevermind.

Don’t you love animal prejudice? My Mongo is the sweetest 140lb Rottie in the world.

I have nothing against Rottweilers or Pitbulls for that matter. A friend has one of the sweetest Pitbulls you’ll ever meet. My son has a Boxer/Pitbull mix who is a real charmer. But I have had several bad experiences with Boxers.

In any case a lot of dogs can be more dangerous to have a round than a fed Python.

Agreed. But remember, the basis for that premise started over 100 years ago. It was “accepted” science. No one questioned it until the last 10-15 years and now we’re learning so much more about these beautiful animals. For instance, did you know that many rattlesnake species will guard and defend their young weeks if not months after birth? They will even defend the offspring of other rattlesnakes in their den site against predators. This behavior has never been documented in any snake species until the last 10 years.

Yeah I tried. Told her if you have one in your house even in a tank then you won’t see a mouse or rat in the house. They usually stay away.

“Rent-A-Retic”

We need to start a crowd fund for this!

:D

Prejudice is born of fear so these threads are quite useful.
I get to find out who the sissies are so I can kick them outta my foxhole when TSHTF.

I have never met a bad Rottie.
Great big cuddle fluffs with wiggle butts.

:)

I am SO sorry.

FWIW, that happened to Slash, too.

His [then] new wife made him get rid of all his snakes.

Sucks.

:(

Meanwhile, the former assertion was that all newborn snakes take off fully independently after birth or hatching.

Yeah, rattlers are quite capable of defending themselves moments after birth. But they got some serious spicy back up until they gain a little size.

The most amazing and selfless thing I ever saw was a Wolf Spider toting all her babies on her back.

She will do that, defending their lives, until they’re old enough to be on their own.

Then she dies and they consume her body, her last, greatest sacrifice, to ensure their survival.

The world is full of incredible animals and most people never even bother to notice.

One of the better descriptions I’ve seen.
He’s also a shameless flirt. I recently bought a four door. Hadn’t had one for years. I pulled into a parking lot and a stunning young woman looked over and broke into an infatuated expression. I was quite flattered until I realized what window she was looking into. Never noticed me.

LOL!

My Dobe boy has the same problem.

Thinks he’s the Warren Beatty of the dog world.

Loves everyone but kids and pretty women are his favorites.

He’s the only dog I’ve ever had that would “vogue” for the ladies.

:D

The Wiggle Butt is a Rottie trademark.

Love ‘em madly.

Understandable. Still, if a owner chooses to feed live to their snake, would you opposed it, even they were careful about it?

So they oppose live feedings? Or do they believe that they just shouldn’t be seen?

I am not at all “for” live feeding.

In the wild, the prey has a chance to elude the predator but not in a captive situation.

I am not at all comfortable with making one animal feel fear and pain just to feed another animal.

There are lots of places that sell humanely euth-ed feeders so that is the route I, and most I know, choose.

There’s a reason that snakes in the wild have short lives and pet snakes live long ones.

I see no reason to inflict suffering to the ‘food’ or the one eating it.
