My 600-Lb. Life’ Star Gina Krasley Dead at 30
US weekly ^ | 8/7/2021 | Erin Crabtree

Posted on 08/07/2021 3:16:04 AM PDT by sodpoodle

Gina detailed how she turned to food as a source of comfort during her childhood. “I got really jealous of my sister, and I remember what made me forget that pain of being abandoned was eating — and by the time I was 10, I was already over 150 pounds,” she recalled.

The reality star claimed that she also suffered physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her father as a young girl. “My weight started to cause problems for me because I started getting bullied a lot, so that led to me acting out and getting punished a lot, which made things even worse — especially with my dad ‘cause he was the enforcer,” she said. “When I did something wrong and he was upset, my punishments from him could get brutal. He would hit me, pull my hair, but at a young age, I didn’t know that was abuse.”

Gina noted that she was more than 300 pounds when she was 14 as she continued relying on food as a coping mechanism. “I was just trying to constantly eat as much as I could, and that pushed my weight to over 450 by the time I graduated high school,” she revealed. “As I was getting closer to 500, it started to get harder to do things.”

The TLC star admitted at the time that her size had “put a strain” on her marriage.

“At this weight, I am very miserable. I’m 28 and I’m probably over 600 pounds now, and I’m only getting bigger,” she explained. “I’m ruining any chance I have for a future all because I can’t stop eating.”

Gina hoped to lose weight at the time she filmed My 600-Lb. Life because she feared for her health.

I had to excerpt, but you should read the whole article at the link.

“She is survived by her wife of six years, Elizabeth Krasley, as well as her mother, sister and other relatives.”

I have evaluated a number of such hugely obese people, already in nursing homes in their twenties. Every one had been put on some controlled diet upon admission. Every one had relatives who would come visit, and bring in all manner of calory-laden snacks, dessert foods, etc. Totally sabotaging any hope of recovery. Most of them were dead in a couple years from a cascade of organ failure, and died as fat as ever.
Self defeating behavior is a complicated subject.

I agree. Somebody enables them, some kind of sick co-dependent relationship.

Blaming other people for the choices you make is pure weakness. Then you go on a reality show about fat people..

No sympathy for idiots.

The common attribute I found in working with many lesbians was that the mother was very angry at the father while the daughter was in her womb.

The daughter was born disliking men and had no idea why.

It sounds like she was trying to find the root cause of her over eating and she was concerned for her health. Blaming the dead women hardly seems appropriate.

I stress eat and am overweight. I am active and gave up fast food and sugary drinks a couple years ago but the weight remains. I did lose twenty pounds but I still see an unhealthy pattern. A lot of it is related to a chaotic work schedule and skipping meals because I forget to eat then end up making up for the calories late in the day. It’s a vicious cycle.

I don’t feel healthy and yet medicine tells me I’m great with no heart issues and I’m not even pre-diabetic.

You point out your problems then do nothing about them so I that is your problem. Confront the problem and end it.

Stress eating? End whatever causes you stress or find a way to deal with it differently.
Stop skipping meals. That’s in your control. You make the rules about you no one else does and a chaotic work schedule is the result of not prioritizing things.

Sugar, high fructose corn syrup, seed oils. Three deadly substances pushed on the American people and later the rest of the world, resulting in the epidemic of metabolic related diseases.

I’m sure she was advised to go on a “low fat” diet and exercise more. But many low fat foods substitute sugar and carbs to decrease the calories from fat. As a result satiation is not achieved and that just leaves the dieter hungrier. No diet is going to be successful in the long term without controlling satiation.

I agree with you whole heartedly that there is too much food and not enough self control. What helped me tremendously is that I went to a residential weight loss program and at one point lost 150 pounds. One thing that I was taught among many and without that program I never would have learned is that I can survive just fine on 1800 calories a day and not be hungry.

I agree that self defeating behavior is a very complicated subject and it is not only limited to Calorie Laden Snacks try eating healthy amongst these people Salad, Lean Protein, Water, Asparagus you trot food like that in front of people insisting on this restaurant as opposed to that restaurant could be problematic but sabotaging people goes beyond calorie laden snacks but sometimes losing weight will change their narrative of you and they find that threatening and what worked for me others will have a hard on for what worked and work overtime to discredit that institution.

The problem with that I have with the nursing home situation is weight loss in a situation like that is it sounds to me that the symptoms are getting treated but nothing else yes they will lose weight but once they get released they will go back to whatever they were doing to begin with. A lot of the time people need to be taught and shown how to do things. A prime example would be a trip that I made to the Doctor he gave me a list of foods that I have never seen before and never heard of before so did I eat them no. Fast forward to yesterday same practice different Doctor this time visible health problems turns out that food had I eaten it would have possibly averted the situation.

Maybe the salad did do her in. The trouble with the medical establishment today is that most Doctors when they are in Medical School will get only 3-6 hours of classroom instruction in Nutrition. Furthermore if you look at our political legal system it is corrupt to the core and does not serve its people well. Dr. Fauci if it were up to me I would drag this guy in front of a tribunal at the Hauge. A prime example would be the FDA and Stevia to this day it has not been endorsed or approved by the FDA. In case that you did not know Stevia is a sugar substitute but not only that it is a natural herb and has been approved long ago by the Governments of Japan and Germany so in this country what we have is Social Security recipients getting something like $650 dollars as their sole income but they are paying $635 for a monthly supply of insulin but with the Democrats that is perfectly fine but it took the Orangeman to cap what insulin producers can charge for a monthly supply of insulin.

So what do you do if that the person they are blaming actually fills some other very important need such as housing and there is no guarantee that the people who are enabling this type of behavior is educated in this area to begin with.

Do not listen to Maddog his advice is horrible the thing that you need to remember is that there is no short cut to weight loss. My last visit to the Doctor I kind of found out that anything quick and easy but works for you when it comes to calories and diet is usually too good to be true. Remember foods high in sodium will cause the kidneys to work harder than they need to and create all kinds of problems. As for your situation I have been there and done that what has worked me in the past is taking one day and cooking your meals for the week.

One thing that I read a while back is that when your body is loaded with the proper nutrients that will bring you to feeling satiated. So you can take someone like our friend from the 600 pound life and fed her like 20 Big Macs and about two hours later she would fin herself reaching for more food. Prior to reading that I never looked at eating in that light but I have found it to be true.
