No one has been charged in the fatal shooting, and Mary Carmack-Altwies, district attorney of Santa Fe County, New Mexico, has highlighted the complexity of the situation.

"We don't know how those live rounds got there," she told CNN. "And I think that that will probably end up being kind of the linchpin for whether a decision is made about charges."

So will the new defense in deadly shootings be "I don't know how live rounds got in the gun. They shouldn't have been there." And arec barwin, being the big democommie donor that he is............ And, how come he didn't get the "Don't leave town." word from the sheriff?

It was her job to know.
Yeah, Baldwin fired the shot, but she loaded the gun. If the rule were followed this was preventable.

This will set new precedence for case law. If they can’t prove who loaded the gun, the shooter cannot be charged.

“’Rust’ armorer breaks silence, doesn’t take any responsibility for Alec Baldwin’s fatal shot”

I’m with the babe here, but she’ll take the fall, because Alex is a good liberal. The way I see it, it is up to Alex to prove that the gun pointed itself at victims before he pulled the trigger - if he cannot, then it’s manslaughter.

Baldwin is a big time lib who hates Trump. No way he’ll be charged.

You or I, however, would already be in jail for negligent homicide.

She sounds like the stereotypical millennial idiot. Never taking responsibility for her actions or in this case inactions. Isn’t she directly responsible for checking for live rounds or any rounds in the chamber before giving custody of the weapon to the actor using it for a scene?

Baldwin had an absolute duty to check that chamber the second the gun hit his hand.

Enough waffling.

I think that’s for a judge and jury to decide

Should have hired an NRA member instead of a little airhead moron who failed to check the gun just prior to showcase in the scene.

Not according to some lawyer’s opinions I have read. Under the law, as written and interpreted, Baldwin was responsible to check any gun he was going use and the charge is negligent homicide.

He also violated the safety rule about never point a gun at someone you don’t intend to kill — and since the lady was not an actor, there was no justifiable excuse for even pointing it at her, let alone actually pulling the trigger.

I think the armored, Baldwin, and the assistant director are all guilty of manslaughter in equal measure

Previous stories said somebody handed it to Arec Bardwin and said “cold gun.”

I have never seen that person identified.

Typical leftist defense. No one takes responsibility but all are responsible including the shooter for not checking the firearm. One of the few basic firearm handling rules. Not pointing it something you don’t want to kill is another biggie.

Baldwin ignore both those very basic rules. He is culpable as is the armorer and whomever handed him the firearm and whomever was responsible for making sure they were safe to handle. All of them ignored the basics.

Before he handed a revolver that he had declared “cold” to the actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the film “Rust” last week, Dave Halls, an assistant director on the film, told a detective he should have inspected each round in each chamber, according to an affidavit that was released Wednesday. But he did not.
