Hugh Thompson retired to Broussard, Louisiana. In the early 2000s, before he died, and while I was still drinking, we hung out in the same bar in Lafayette (before it closed).

I have a signed copy of his book here in my office. He was an American hero who resisted the efforts to sweep things under the rug.
