All the best gospel performances are saturated with the sheer joy of knowing Jesus Christ. This performance by Dixie Carter in an episode of Designing Women gets me every time.

‘Down in the River’, arr. Larry Nickel. Sung at the 10th Annual Choral Festival 2015 of Shenandoah Christian Music Camp (VA). Conducted by Wendell Nisly.
Woke up this morning at 2:00 am. It’s a quiet time between night and day. I remember being young and getting some thankful prayers in to the Lord before He got too busy at this time. There were some begging times as well. And so it was today, I came to thank Him for Jim. I bowed my head and asked that Jim be able to get back to work soon. I also want to offer the sound of Johnny Cash’s sure voice in times when you want to hear a prayer and praise set to music.

This is not exactly a gospel song, but it came to mind. And it’s George Jones, so how can you go wrong? My Uncle Dave played and sang this song with my Aunt Mary in the months before he died. I am not sure how they got through it without weeping. They loved it so much that they decided to put part of a verse on his headstone, where she will eventually also be buried (should Jesus tarry). We ourselves are like bulbs or seeds that after being planted in the ground will one spring day rise and bloom, completely changed from what we once were.
Seasons of My Heart
The seasons come, the seasons go
We get a little sunshine, rain, and snow
Just the way that it was planned to be
But there’s no seasons in my heart
While you play the leading part
‘Cause the flowers will bloom eternally
Your leaving will bring autumn sorrow
And my tears like withered leaves will fall
But spring could bring some glad tomorrow
And Darlin’ we could be happy after all
As it is in nature’s plan
No season gets the upper hand
Oh, how I’ve tried to keep this fact in mind
The trees are bare, the cold winds blow
And by experience we should know
That winter comes but the spring is close behind
Your leaving will bring autumn sorrow
And my tears like withered leaves will fall
But spring could bring some glad tomorrow
And Darlin’ we could be happy after all..

Oh Happy Day. Ranger Dave, 2 years ago says, “In 2016, I was diagnosed with cancer. Due to the chemo, I was awake ALL NIGHT-EVERY NIGHT. I would play this on my iPad and talk with GOD. Today I am cancer free living on a beautiful hobby farm in the Ozarks. GOD is so good! OH HAPPY DAY!”
