A Canadian Tesla owner claims that after the battery on his $140,000 car died, the automaker told him a replacement would cost $26,000 and locked him out of the vehicle until he pays for a new one.

For those that think EVs and Musk are going to save the world, you’re living in LaLa Land
I’m glad it’s being reported.
If they can lock you out for a lack of a new battery, they can lock you out over some parking tickets in the brave and new world.
It’s about control. The interconnected nature of all things electronic make the Internet of Things more than just personal assistants and home automation. It’s about control. If you think they’ll stop at EVs, just wait till you see what big tech is working on.
The next 5 years are going to be revolutionary, and sadly, most of the public is going to gobble up the new toys without thinking about the repercussions.
The “ internet of humans” is the big problem .. kids are tatooing hive mind on their arms ... they gonna push it as accelerated learning ... but not tell them about the total loss of Freedom and Autonomy
“This could be a flat out lie. But the cost of the battery seems in line with other accounts.”
The buyer popped the access port, hooked up a 12v jumper and opened the doors.
Or is the door locked because the battery is dead?
Yeah, $60K for the car, $26K for the battery and nowhere to charge. Sign me up for two of these crapsandwiches because I don’t care where my money comes from, or where it goes.
Battery died and the electric door locks stopped working?

GEEZE. The guy is ranting for attention. His 12v battery died. A simple jump from another 12v battery gets the doors open.
They can lock you out if your spouse tells them you are not respectful to her.

Tesla didn’t lock him out. His 12v battery died and he was too stupid to jump it.
“Or is the door locked because the battery is dead?”
The buyer was observed using a jumper and opening the doors.
True. I see stupid people everywhere!
How does one jump an EV? If the EV is dead, it’s dead. It’s not like the old days where you could push the car down a slight incline and pop the clutch.
Give me a Dart with a Slant-six.

Apparently you enjoy getting jerked around by fake news clickbait!
“How does one jump an EV”
Just like you jump your car.
This can’t be. I just read on here this morning, the batteries last 20 yrs or more. Why, the battery will outlast the car!
