[47] Well, because these “quiet men” do not “raise their voices,” because they sometimes speak in soothing tones of brotherhood and peace, because, like other dictators before them, they’re always making “their final territorial demand,” some would have us accept them at their word and accommodate ourselves to their aggressive impulses. But if history teaches anything, it teaches that simpleminded appeasement or wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly. It means the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom.
[48] So, I urge you to speak out against those who would place the United States in a position of military and moral inferiority. You know, I’ve always believed that old Screwtape reserved his best efforts for those of you in the Church. So, in your discussions of the nuclear freeze proposals, I urge you to beware the temptation of pride–the temptation of blithely..uh..declaring yourselves above it all and label both sides equally at fault, to ignore the facts of history and the aggressive impulses of an evil empire, to simply call the arms race a giant misunderstanding and thereby remove yourself from the struggle between right and wrong and good and evil.
[49] I ask you to resist the attempts of those who would have you withhold your support for our efforts, this administration’s efforts, to keep America strong and free, while we negotiate–real and verifiable reductions in the world’s nuclear arsenals and one day, with God’s help, their total elimination. [Applause]

Sadly WE have become the same evil empire that Reagan was railing against it seems with all the lies, deceit and criminal corruption in the US government. We interfere in other countries elections at will yet destroyed a presidency with the myth that a foreign country interfered with our 2016 election. We remove duly elected leaders from power in other countries via coups then install corrupt puppet governments. We destroyed our allies access to a major energy source without consultation. We have engaged in endless wars without a coherent strategy to actually win ANY of these wars. We censor our own people and arrest them for free speech. We monitor their statements or flat out manufacture trumped up BS to arrest them and then withhold exculpatory evidence and violate the Bill of Rights without a second thought. Sadly we have become the Evil Empire that Reagan so eloquently spoke out against...

I live in realville and if you think we are the same country we were in 1988, you are delusional. It’s not the people or the form of government, but the way the government conducts itself. It’s an abomination to the rule of law domestically and internationally. If you can live with no accountability for the death and misery this government has inflicted on it’s own people you’re something special!
Where would one go? The communists have destroyed the world and the establishment GOP like yourselves refuses to engage the enemy, it’s just so unseemly, better to regale in the past and pretend we are something we are not anymore.
