A man who is 'obsessed with becoming a dad' has shed almost half his bodyweight by eating a 'carnivore' diet consisting of just meat and eggs in a bid to improve his fertility.

Isaiah Caldwell, 28, from St Louis, Missouri, tipped the scales at 434 pounds at his heaviest - but has now lost a staggering 210 pounds.

He started to make changes to his lifestyle after being told his weight might be causing fertility issues - and now weighs 224 pounds and feels 'a million times better'.

Tech salesman Isaiah, lost the weight by working out and following the strict carnivore diet, which sees followers ditch anything that has not come from an animal - leaving them with meat, eggs and dairy.

Isaiah, who is 6ft4 in height, is now happier and healthier than ever and he and his wife Amanda, 29, are still trying for a baby.

“I’d say his strategy was a success.”

Nothing in the oven?

Sorry, eating ONLY meat, dairy and eggs is a fad. Not even our ancestors did just these.

Bump... good for you.

Didn’t you used to fight? I remember you from the Tyson threads long ago.

Nope. I took about 3 boxing classes before a serious neck injury from tennis.

I’m a lover not a fighter! ;-)

**Genetics>drugs and nutrition>exercise and lifestyle**

All that (except the drugs) is why my wife (67) and I (69) are nearly the same weight as we were 46 years ago, when I proposed to her (March 3rd, iirc).

When I left the active lifestyle of grain/livestock farming and steel fabrication, and then became a truck driver, I soon realized that I had to add an exercise routine.

She just stays foxy fit nomatter what it seems.

So yes, a plant-based diet that is low-fat can be healthy, provided you make sure you get the essential amino acids.

Uhhhhhhh... not so much.

Getting "the essential amino acids" sounds good on paper, but no. Especially with kids.

They also deprive themselves of the crucial fatty acids and trace minerals.

Yes, I am referring to adults.

Forcing Veganism on kids is a crime.

I know someone who did that procedure and heard it failed.

Guess that’s why.

Not one of my favorite people.

I found one reason I had weight problems.

Apparently my rather severe diverticulitis was the culprit for most of it.

I can keep weight steady and easing down.

And given the choice, I definitely choose low-carb.

But I don’t consider carbs from green leafy-vegetables or low-glycemic berries as “carbs”. So eat as much leafy veggies as you want, especially anything high in potassium, which very few people get enough of.

My guess is initially the diet..which as some point levels out. While adding muscle mass ..initially..slowed weight loss..and later speeded up weight loss.
Not a nutritionist..but I believe he will have to stick with a modified diet..maybe walking for as long as he wishes to maintain his overall condition.
Or, he might end up in the worse shape then when he started.

Yeah, I agree. The diet comes first and as weight comes off the physical activity comes easier.

I agree with most posters here. Dietary factors are like 85% of the weight loss equation. I’ve chosen to ignore the pound counting and just shoot for health. Good blood work and other indicators.

People MUST still eat those. I don't have an issue with weight gain, so I can eat all the berries, veggies and salad I want... but everyone is different. Goals are different too.

What you posted previously, about getting energy from either ketones or carbs, period, is essential knowledge. Understanding that changes everything.

5’11”, 168 lbs. this morning.

5'11", 157 lbs. this morning. I was 192 in January 2016. Burned all the way down to 143 minimum. When my wife became a T1 diabetic, my eating discipline was subverted by her inability to stick to a regimen. I've been running between 154 and 160 over the last month. I have a couple problems to solve. One is being in Stage 3 iron deficiency anemia. I have a gastric bleed that can't get a scope appointment until March 14. My liver enzymes are high (ALP/GGT) and an ultrasound shows possible gallstones. MRCP next Thursday. Things start breaking at 67.
