Multiple intel sources: Baltimore bridge collapse was an “absolutely brilliant strategic attack” on US critical infrastructure - most likely cyber - & our intel agencies know it. In information warfare terms, they just divided the US along the Mason Dixon line exactly like the Civil War.

Second busiest strategic roadway in the nation for hazardous material now down for 4-5 years - which is how long they say it will take to recover. Bridge was built specifically to move hazardous material - fuel, diesel, propane gas, nitrogen, highly flammable materials, chemicals and oversized cargo that cannot fit in the tunnels - that supply chain now crippled.

So a deficiency isn’t an issue in your world.
Okay.

From the article:
a deficiency related to “propulsion and auxiliary machinery.”

According to the report, the deficiency was described in detail as issues with “gauges, thermometers, etc.”

Yes, I just found out recently about the controlled demolition of WTC Building 7 on that day. Can you believe fire caused it to fall? Oh my.

“actually bridge-tunnels”

I used to commute through the Harbor Tunnel. Don’t remember the “bridge” part. [Plenty-o-short-bridges over most anything like most limited access roads.]

Honest to God, that’s what I see on TV from the expert speculators. What have you heard the experts say? Wouldn’t you like to hear what the pilot said?

I haven't heard anything, I've been away from the TV all day.

All I said was I want to know why a ship that just pulled away lost power? I didn't infer anything beyond that, but you apparently have.

Of course I'd want to hear what the pilot said, but I doubt the pilot had much to do with it. The pilot only gets on the ship to navigate it out of port or gets on the ship before it comes into port, basically to steer the ship around known local obstacles and depth channels that might not be on or has changed on charts.

It's the regular crew that maintains the engines and the power plant. It's the captain and chief engineer that I'd want to hear from, the pilot is only on the ship for one job and then he's gone.

I don’t know a fig about harbor piloting. I paddle canoes. That’s why I’d like to have the expert harbor pilot who was piloting the ship make a statement or have the authorities who took his statement release it. That would put the people who play expert harbor pilots on FR and X out of the harbor pilot acting business.

The track of the container ship once it umdocked was... interesting. One video capture of the incident (I won’t call it an accident) showed the vessel obviously under power when it struck the support. It wasn’t merely drifting.

No.
If the deficiency is with propulsion that’s bad.
That if ignored will cause loss of power.

I stand corrected in that both of those are partly tunnels, but any traffic coming from anywhere can go around 695 or 83 to connect on the other side.

All other traffic can still use the “bridge/tunnels.”

The bridge replacement could be accelerated were the Dems to contract Haliburton and put a performance bond in the contract. Haliburton always delivers early when there is performance money on the table………

“Exactly but the pilot has no control over the mechanics of the ship. If something fails he is as helpless as anyone else.”

Well that makes him pretty useless.

What intell? I just see people speculating. If you work driving a delivery van and run the van into a pole, what happens? When the cop shows up does he call the delivery van experts to find out what happens? No, he asks you how you caused that $1000 worth of damage. His report gets filed and anyone who cares to know looks at the report. I suppose no one can ask you if that pole you ran into had $10 Billion in damages.

The older Harbor Tunnel is just a tunnel.

Forget the “bridge” part.
