It's "420" Pot Freedom Day (vanity thread)

I do not advocate for pot, only for the individuals right to choose. I don't use it. It has an odor. It's bad for the lungs. I never got a euphoric "high" when I did try it. it's a nothingburger for me personally. I do have friends who partake (vets with PTSD).
It is certainly less harmful than fentanyl, heroin and all of the other Schedule 1 drugs and never should have been classified as such.

The only thing I can say in its defense is I hear that some of the nurses in rehab are supposedly pretty . . nice. But even that's not enough to tempt me with what some call the devils weed. YMMV

Having the right to smoke pot is like voting. Not everyone has the smarts to do it wisely, or responsibly. I'm 77. Never smoked cigarettes, never smoked pot.

As someone with ptsd, not from military service, my time in the military was during peacetime, If it would calm those issues I’d readily partake, but it’s illegal. I’ve found I have to just keep busy all the time to keep my head from screwing with me.
I feel it’s a persons choice though and knowing people who do smoke it I feel it’s a far better choice than alcohol. I’ve never seen a mad high on😊

I'm glad that works good enough for you. My friend has a "support" dog and they hike in the woods frequently. He has trouble "relaxing" and he says this helps. I support both of your positions.

Never tried the stuff. Ever! Nor any of the other poisons.
Only smoked two cigarettes in my 77 year old life. One at 4 and one at 10. That was enough for me!

Life is too complicated with trying to figure it out while “high”.
Used to do light drinking alcohol till a seizure put me down. Now don’t even tough that.

Now Coffee is another matter! Got a big cup before me now.

Probably it was a lot of peoples birthday. The date was chosen because of the number of the bill that made marijuana illegal. The coincidence of different peoples birthday is irrelevant.

What our nation needs in these contentious times is another narcotic.
People operating vehicles in heavy traffic or through pedestrian intersections.
Folks choosing to smoke dope all day rather than work.
Encouraging our already compromised youth to surrender to addiction.
Expediting fentanyl into our cities.
What could possibly constitute a downside?

I support your freedom to choose to drink coffee. Not everyone does though. One extremist environmental group wanted to limit coffee drinking to 4 cups of coffee a year. Something to do with the planting coffee trees instead of other varieties.

The wailing and lamentations of those hearing the words of logic and reality are so sweet. It’s like napalm in the morning. It smells like . . . like Victory.

I’ll admit I indulge from time to time... Out on my pontoon just putting around, tunes cranked on my 1000 watt sound system... And after about a 6 pack, if I take just one or two hits(that’s all I need), Yaaaaazzzzz... Life is good!!

Some people seem to handle it just fine.
But there is evidence that some people don’t. Mental problems can occur.

For a wide variety of reasons, our society seems to be full of people with mental problems.
Our society is steadily legalizing cannabis.

An open and honest discussion about the use of cannabis and the risk of mental problems in some people seems reasonable.

But some folks don’t want that discussion, and get very defensive, because they don’t want criminalization to return.

I have sciatica.
Pretty bad.
I am currently going through the shots in the back.
There is a cream I use, it is a THC/CBD based creme. I use it for pain at the site of the pain.
You do not get high from the creme ( it does not soak into the bloodstream) but it works wonders. My doctors know I use it. They do not recommend it, but they do not tell me to not use it.
My MIL is suffering with severe pain. Her doctor just told her to get the gummies that deal with pain only, and do not get you high.
It does have purposes other than getting high.

“Folks choosing to smoke dope all day rather than work.”

In 1968, while in the Navy, I received a letter from my late Mom, who was a Naturized American citizen from Switzerland. She wrote saying, “Why make legal a drug that keeps our youth in a stupor?”

Due to my military responsibilities, I couldn’t partake if I wanted to.

No matter how any smoke gets into one’s lungs, smoke is not going to extend one’s life. The psychological effects aren’t beneficial, nor are spontaneous abortions in women.

My prescriptions all address side effects on the fetus. Marijuana-caused deaths have to be researched.

The fetus shouldn’t be the “bridge too far” testing for side effects.

There’s too much craziness in our culture to be attributed to DNA.

I’ll repeat, that the book on Marijuana has yet to be written.
