Authorities in Texas are investigating an incident that left two people dead and another seriously injured on Saturday after an oversized piece of equipment came off a trailer and landed on top of a vehicle, trapping them inside.

According to Temple Fire and Rescue, just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, first responders were dispatched to a report of a collision on State Highway 36, just west of Highway 317.

Upon arrival, crews said they found an oversized load had come off of its trailer, pinning a vehicle beneath.

Officials estimated the equipment being hauled by the transport fleet was approximately 350,000 pounds. Authorities did not specify what the giant piece of was.

Authorities said three people were trapped inside the vehicle.

Officials said two passengers sustained fatal injuries and the third victim was extricated and flown to the ER with life-threatening injuries.

Did the car attempt to pass legally? Bet the didn’t and paid the cost.

All of those trailer tires are steerable with remote control. Don’t know how it got in such a bind to have the load break loose. Very unusual.

I'm really surprised they let that travel in one piece, unless it was moving locally on straight-ish roads.

A fractionation tower that tall would normally travel in 2 sections and be set and assembled in place.

Those poor souls in the car! They probably figured they’d live forever but it was a pipe dream.

The last entry in Anne Frank’s diary; “Dear diary, it’s my birthday and Dad got me that drum kit I’d been asking for.”

All of the axles on those trailers are steerable. They turn a lot sharper than they look like they could. Of course the route has to be chosen carefully because of the overswing, height, and width. I’ve seen power plant parts that were over a million pounds transported by truck.

This oversized load should have had two safety vehicles blocking traffic.

Yep, that’s a fact! Last few years I’m seeing more speeding cars, lane changing, and no turn signals. Rude and dangerous.

Horn honking just as the light turns green. Passing in intersections, and much more. I call them ‘’out-of-towners’’. We don’t honk our horns in Texas, unless it’s an emergency or a polite horn tap to wake someone up.

If anyone honks at me at any time, I smile and signal a ‘’hi’’, like I know them.
It sure makes them stop and wonder if they know me. hahahahaha Love it!

The engineers who designed this very long column and then expected a trucking company to safely transport it to destination must be recent graduates of Biden’s DEI COLLEGE OF ADVANCED ENGINEERING.

That is a pressure vessel that stands up vertical so if it is warped or damaged in any way I doubt it can be used without extensive repairs. These vessels are manufactured to exacting dimensions.

I admit when I see stories such as this I think, “Yep, that’s what you get when you hire based on DEI”.

350,000 pounds?

Should have closed the road while transporting it.
