United States Army and Canadian soldiers look over the rugged Shah-e-Kot mountains as they search for caves or Taliban and al-Qaida fighters on the loose, 25 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Gardez, Afghanistan. Hundreds of American and Canadian troops were lifted into the mountainous region at high altitude to search for and destroy any enemy they encounter. (AP Photo/Mikhail Metzel, Pool)

Good morning. Do you think you can put me on the bump list? I know HLL has me on hers, but I'm not quite sure when she is coming back from beautiful Italy--do you think she'll come back? =)

I wanted to get the new thread going before commencing a full day's worth of errands. I've done the grocery shopping and now am at the office waiting for my paycheck. Then it's back home to do my father-in-law's taxes, start an article I'm trying to write about the gold market (as if I have any idea what's going on there), bake cookies, make a pie, make some phone calls, etc., etc. Hope you're having a good day!

I'll make a note of it. I've been using a bump list HLL gave me several weeks ago, but she's probably revised it since then. Nice to see you here!

Cold and sunny here in Ohio. Spring is here......I guess.....but it never quite acts like it until sometime in April, and not always then.
If I ever went south to avoid bad weather, it wouldn't be in winter. It would be in November and March. I hate cold rain. Give me snow any day!
I have an ideal plan for the temperate zone. December through February should be in the twenties and sunny, with occasional snow to make things white and beautiful. March through May should be 60, breezy, with rain only during weekdays. June through August should be hot enough to swim, but never above 85, and September through November should be back down to the 60's until winter arrives in December in time for a white Christmas.
Think that'll ever happen?! LOL!

here.

Our gal on the scene in Italy sends this report:
Hello from Milan.
I don't have time to go on FR but I wanted to drop a note to say that I am fine. The weather is in the 60s and it's been overcast but so far it's been a great trip.
Did you know that Chelsea was in Venice this weekend!!! I can't believe I missed her. So many people told me about it. She still has security and she tied up the canals. I wish I could have gotten pictures.
I will be on my way to Florence tomorrow to go to a spa and visit the museums. My jet lag is killing me.
I will catch you when I can,
HLL

I love your ideal temperate zone. I feel the same. Oh, by the way, my art work is now on display in my kitchen. ;) lol

From the Reliable Source, your Sen. Bryd has a new fan.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton sure knows how to ladle it on. During yesterday's Senate Budget Committee markup, she gave a world-class demonstration in the art of flattery, finding an easy mark in her senior colleague Robert Byrd:
"I just have to say that my mother, who is about the same age as Senator Byrd, had never watched C-SPAN until I was elected," the New York Democrat announced. "And then she started watching C-SPAN to get a glimpse of me, and she's just fallen in love with Senator Byrd. And she loves his speeches -- his spring speech, his fall speeches, his commemorative speeches."
Clinton wasn't finished. "You have a lot of fans out there and I thank you for giving my mother a lot of joy, day in and day out," she actually told the West Virginia Democrat. Byrd meltingly replied: "Please give her my sweetest notes of appreciation and fondness."

All right!!! Are you going to be posting it anytime soon?! :o)

...the Brits are in awe of anyone with a full set of teeth. fof - great line. (But I'm easily amused.) Your day's schedule just exhausted me. Good luck on all the fronts.
DS - thanks for the HLL update. I know she's having a ball - you can't help having a super time in Venice and Florence.

What a bunch of baloney. I'd love to hear what Shrillery says about Fiddin' Bobby - that doddering old fool - in private, "F****** hillbilly bastard," maybe?

Please join us today as we discuss issues of great importance, mostly.Well I can't say it was of great importance, but I and a trio of other GRITS (Girls Raised in the South) here in MA got together for a 'Welcome Spring' party yesterday morning. We gathered at a friend's home wearing sun hats and sunglasses, ate a bowl of warm cheese grits, then proceeded outside to sit in our lawn chairs in 3" OF SNOW!! My friend's Yankee friends got a huge kick out of it; one had even called the local paper and the guy came out and took pictures of us! We stayed out there in 32 degree, overcast weather for a half-hour, drinking our Magnolias (a Mimosa with a splash of Gran Marnier). My friend and I were in shorts, sweaters and sneakers, while the two other girls were in flowered long pants and SANDALS! Their toes were numb when we got back inside (as were ALL our fingers), and we had a lovely brunch with the Yankee girls. Just after we went back inside it started snowing AGAIN and we had 5 more inches by the end of the day. It was a GREAT time, and we've already made plans for the 2nd annual 'Grits and Magnolias" gathering on the first day of Spring 2003!
Happy Spring everyone, even if it doesn't look like it where YOU are!

Excellent report on the GRITS! I'm trying to remember where I bought Mrs. lodwick this tee shirt...Memphis, Atlanta, maybe Nashville - some airport gift shop. She loved it.
