The Left is, by definition, sinister. --S. Beast

Sinister and conspiring to commit illegal acts. Where's J. Ashcroft, this needs to be investigated.

Sinister means left in Latin and in English. We should use this quite meaningful word more often, don't you agree?

I noticed one poster referred to Freespeech and would assume that's the same as Free Speech TV, which is a communist station seen on Dish TV. Interesting...
I would say these Marxist delinquents are excellent candidates to stand in place for the (now absent) Johnny Jihad Lynd over in Afghanistan! Shall we take up a collection to send them?

No, you just didn't have Mrs. McAlpin for Latin. She scared it into me.
To: teresat
Childish crap ! Just think : in a few years, some of these participants will be America's leaders !
To: Savage Beast
You people sure scare easily. "Far left"? "Communist"? Haven't heard this kind of freak-out since McCarthy. Get a grip.
To: truthtime
The only thing Americans need to fear, TT, is decadence, and that is what contempory Liberalism represents. And I am afraid of that. We should all should be. As far as Communism goes--it has already failed. If America remains healthy and free of decadence, our enemies from without cannot harm us. The Left--Liberalism--is by definition sinister, and it represents decadence. I'm not afraid of Communists. I am afraid of moral decay from within--decadence. You shouldn't jump to shallow conclusions like that; you can do better.
To: Savage Beast
"Moral decay from within"? Haven't heard that sort of thing since Cicero against Catiline!
To: truthtime
Yep. That's it. So you were paying attention in Latin class. I knew you knew more than you were letting on, you rascal.
To: Savage Beast
Well then, Cicero: watch your hands; the empire is just beginning.
To: truthtime
That's what I'm afraid of! And you said that we people were
freaking out and should
get a grip!
Imperial Rome is one of mankind's most dubious achievements. Discovering that we have reincarnated into it is something to freak out about!
McCarthy my Aunt Livia!

All salute Emperor Bush. Was Octavian a dimwit as well? I don't remember that lesson.
To: truthtime
I think I dozed off when she was talking about Octavian.
Wasn't he the same person as Augustus? If so, he was completely done in by his wife, who finally finished him off with a bunch of poisoned figs. I guess he was a dimwit, but maybe she was just very smart.
But if and when we loose our republic, I don't think it's going to matter much whether we have a dimwit, a genius, or the noblest of them all in power; Caligula and Nero will emerge soon enough. I think we have already had a glimpse of them on the national scene.
I do not think we're about to loose the republic. But the erosion of liberty that has occurred all ready is plenty to be concerned about.
What do you think about all this? I would be interested in knowing your opinion. Have you been reading and posting at Free Republic for a long time? --SB

    >Wasn't he the same person as Augustus?
 Yep.
 >But if and when we loose our republic, I don't think it's going to matter much whether we have a dimwit, a genius, or the noblest of them all in power
I think you're right--Bush at least is just a character filling the role assigned to him.
 >But the erosion of liberty that has occurred all ready is plenty to be concerned about.
Yes--the way they use September 11 is really frightening.
 >Have you been reading and posting at Free Republic for a long time?
 No, just a few days.
