Wasted words. Just home school. It'll get their attention, trust me. Your dialogue with an administrator is like reading Shakespear to your dog.
If you must, the school board is your only other bet.

Agents of the government cannot ban the practice of religion or religious speech. I would call the principal at home tonight and let him know that he faces a very bad few weeks if an apology is not issued forthwith.

Maybe the teacher doesn't want the children to use God's name in vain?
To: sdk7x7
Demand a face-to-face meeting after your call, and make a point of having a face-to-face with the teacher, as well. It is illegal to institute policies such as a ban the use of the word 'God.' Period. (assuming it's a public school).
The Leftist roaches scurry when a light is shined upon them.

Are you sure that they aren't banning its use as a expletive? As in "Oh God" or "Gahhhhhd"? After all, the context of the banning (with other swear words) makes me wonder.
To: sdk7x7
Make sure they didn't mean gd as an abbreviation for "god damn."

Sounds like time for a twist on George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words": God, Jesus, Christ, Moses, communion, resurrection, Lord.
Have your son try those in class.

Are you certain he didn't mean 'G..d...'? Or the use of God in a vain, irreverent way?

I'm in agreement with those on the thread who say the teacher likely was making a list of words he did not want to hear the students use in vain. I think when you give it a little thought, you'll come to the same conclusion -- in which case the teacher should be commended, not condemned.

As a parent of teenagers I can tell you how many times in one conversation they can use the word God and it has nothing with expressing their religion.
I think they teacher wants to rid his classroom of all the 'Gods' that I'm sure he hears with every assignment.

So, now the NEA has classified God as a cuss word.

Maybe your little brother misunderstood the shorthand the teacher was using. When she said "the F-word" he knew what she meant. But he probably misunderstood how she expressed "G-D" if she used that expression. He thought she meant "God" when she actually intended "G*dd*mned" as the banned word.

Where is your school? If it is in CA call the Pacific Justice Institute
http://www.pacificjustice.org/. They love these kinds of cases. Also, another resource is The American Center for Law and Justice
http://www.aclj.org/. They, too, will fight. The kids can express their deeply held religious beliefs. This is all too commonplace each September.

Good luck! It's so messed up. God is certainly needed in these trying times. Vulgar words need to be removed from "music", TV, movies, etc. It seems to be ok to be as vulgar and out of control in personal behaviour as a person can be. But just mention God, Jesus, etc, and people go crazy in the worst way! Well, God Bless us All!
