While I occasionally admit (in jest) that I have/had a "Senior Moment" and greatly appreciate, enjoy and read Newsbusters regularly, I take umbrage to someone else referring to the "anointed one" as having enjoyed a lapse of memory as being the same as one of "us" who occasionally forget/overlook something.

I reserve the same right as Barack in having the ability to refer to myself (and using deprecating humor) as a Senior and if anyone else who is not, should refrain from engaging in such discourse.

I have been using that line for many years now and though I'm encroaching on the magical 65 (3 months) I think my mind is almost as sharp as anyone 1/2 my age.

I attribute that to my being continually engaged in all things relating to current events, politics, news, and my thirst for knowledge, which of course, I get the majority, here at Free Republic.

So here's to all you Seniors out there and may we have a voice in continued debate and not be inexorably linked to a moonbat/socialist such as fear Barack ("Peace Be Upon His Middle No Name") Obama

Well, even evasion may lower our tax bill. If Congress knew that there was no feasible way to evade taxes, they might raise the rates 10 or 20%. As it is, the prospect of encouraging evasion may help keep their greed slightly in check.

It’s kind of like the surveillance society. If you have perfect surveillance of your subjects, you no longer need the consent of the governed for any particular law. The fact that we were largely on the honor system gave them an incentive not to get too carried away.

The fact is that under the National Socialists, every economic decision was made by the central planners.

Not really. In fact, much economic life under the Nazis, prior to war, wasn't much more tightly controlled than under modern Democratic Socialist regimes in Sweden or, FTM, Germany. Once the war got rolling, the state clamped down, as indeed it did in every country engaged in the War.

My point was not, however, that Germans were "free," although those who were of appropriate race and didn't openly oppose the State were certainly more free to live their own lives than under Stalin.

My point was that the "market" of price signals and efficient production continued to function to a considerable extent under the Nazis. They made no attempt to institute a full command economy by destroying the market. The efficiency this gave them made them a far more dangerous enemy than the incredibly inefficient Russian system.

It's called "lawfare". Sue everyone into submission, get special consideration little by little until you achieve full capitualtion. They take advantage of laws for which they themselves have nothing but contempt.

A few weeks ago in Great Britain a hairstylist was sued by a woman wearing a hijab. As the owner of the shop explained, she sells hair styling. Her clients want to see how her employees take care of their own hair. It's good for business. The hijab doesn't allow for that.

The owner lost.

Public education is a textbook example of the law of unintended consequences in action. The people who lobbied for public education genuinely believed that it was the only way to provide the poor with the necessary tools to achieve success. I doubt that there were many people in the 19th century who could foresee what a disaster it would become.

I was referring simply to the Catholic church. I can see several of you want to take this down a hyperbolic and insulting road, I’ll have none of it. I will not be reading or responding to any further comments on this matter. My position is clear, my logic is common sense. There are gray areas. The best way to prevent an abortion is chastity, but then that is also the best way to prevent a child. I think the Vatican stick up for itself quite well. It surely has the resources.

This is just a news story to all who read it. Juicy, sad, laughable maybe some "couldn't happen to a nicer lib" schadenfreude.. but just a story. But to have a really good day take the time to imagine what a moment to moment hell this is for JE. He was ashen. His secret life has been found out. His mind is racing to find the right blend of truth and lies to tell his family and the media. He knows pictures and video will follow. He can't sleep but rather tosses and turns. He can't eat. Where last week he could preach condescendingly about the evils of the Bush regime in any eager forum and expect praise today he hides in abject fear when ever his phone rings. Good.
