Bush to Seek Immigrant Benefit Protection

CRAWFORD, Tex., Jan. 3 -- President Bush will propose protections for the Social Security taxes paid by the workers who would come into the country under massive changes to immigration laws he plans to announce on Wednesday, Republican officials said Saturday.

Bush's plan would make it possible for such workers from Mexico and perhaps other countries to collect retirement benefits without being penalized by their home countries for the years they spent working in the United States, the officials said.

Officials began releasing details of Bush's plan shortly before Christmas and provided new details over the weekend. The officials said Bush's plan will contain a new system to help workers who want to enter from Mexico or other countries if they have jobs waiting for them. It also includes a mechanism for some undocumented residents to continue working in the United States and get on a path to legal status.

Mr President,

Your administration has done so much good things,
it is painful to say this: Your administration
is making a big mistake by pandering to groups
that want to create an "open borders" immigration policy.
Trial balloons for 'amnesty' and giving benefits to illegal
immigrants are being made.

This is a mistake.

I oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and you should too.
I oppose welfare for illegal immigrants and you should too.
I oppose non-enforcement of immigration laws and you should too.

You should oppose this proposal to allow any illegal immigrants
to take out of the social security system, especially from other
countries. It is wrong because the system is for American citizens,
not for others. Our trade deficit is bad enough to have to add to this.

You should change the immigration laws to end 'anchor babies' being
used to create 'chain immigration' and you should stop 'anchor babies' getting citizenship when their Mom's came over here illegally (only children of legal residents should be made citizens). We should change
the law, so that an illegal immigrant who comes to this country to give
brith does not grant US citizenship for the baby.

You should oppose paying medicare money for the border hospitals rather than letting hospitals off the hook so they dont have to cater to illegals showing up at their doors. We should not be giving welfare to immigrants, but focus on giving them economic opportunity.

There is a lot more you could do to fix the immigration mess:
you could publicly support Rep Lamar Smith's CLEAR act that allows local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws.
you could enforce employer sanctions and fines and set up a system
in the Dept of Labor so every employee can and should be verified through a national database. You could support a 'guest worker' program
but only in conjunction with a massive increase in the enforcement of
immigration laws so that many of the illegal immigrants are returned
to their country of origin and the market for illegal immigrant labor
is dried up completely. Any 'guest worker' visa and all other visas should be strictly enforced.

This is the message you should be giving out, not a 'pandering' message
that harms our national security and our national interests: The borders should be made more secure and the incentives for illegal immigration should be stopped.

This President has been in office for three years and our borders are tighter now than they have been in many many years.

You are totally misinformed on this issue. Just ask any of the border guards...they caught a million last year and estimate that they didn't catch 3 million! Look at their numbers, not what the pundits say.

"why this desperate buying of votes with the Social Security money of Americans and all the talk of amnesty?"

Everything you base the above on, has not come from this administration, it has come from unnamed sources and phantom Bush Administrations officials who wish to remain anonymous

And the proof they must present that they used a stolen card for 18 months? Next we'll hear it's unfair that only those who stole a card and will write a notarized letter claiming they did can get a nice monthly check coming their way --- then we'll have to start including all those who claimed they worked here but didn't commit felony document fraud.

Good for you. Vote for Howard Dean.

Thank you. Why even complain about these things if you're going to help somebody like Howard Dean get elected?
It makes no sense. Once again the single issue zealots threaten to help throw Bush out and give us something worse.

Undocumented workers now pay billions of dollars annually into Social Security but do not collect benefits because they give their employers fraudulent Social Security numbers.
Since when and HOW?!

Bush's proposals draw heavily on a bill introduced by Sen. John McCain, his rival in the 2000 primaries, and Reps. Jim Kolbe and Jeff Flake, all Arizona Republicans. That bill would create a Web-based Labor Department database of jobs that would be open first to U.S. workers and then to foreigners, who could be admitted with a "temporary worker" visa available for a maximum of six years.

There was an interesting interactive conversation on our talk radio 101.5 NJ today.

They mostly were talking about illegals + contractors.

Good points were when contractors that don't use illegals bid on a job, they can't compete with contractors that do use illegals.

Obvious differences are, illegals don't need union benefits nor need to comply with minimum wage + insurance.

Contractors that use illegals win jobs 90% of the time.

One solution I have in mind....UNIONS should offer benefits. Keep this expense out of the employers hands. The unions can benefit this way, employers would have one less expense plus an incentive for using union workers. Union employees would then always be covered with benefits even off the job.

To protest both President Bush's open borders/amnesty position as well as the Democrat's open borders/amnesty positions, there will be a No Shop Day on Monday, January 12th 2004. Below is a copy of the email that
is floating around on the internet about this.

Please forward this email to as many people as you can!

It would probably also make sense to let President Bush know if you plan to join in on the no shop day.

Our last alert is having an effect. I've noticed a change in several of the campaigns over the last few weeks. And their policy/issues folks have mentioned to me that they have had lots of calls about how guestorker amnesty rewards illegal aliens and only encourages more illegal immigration. So keep calling! Don't let them put you to
voicemail. Make sure you get to talk to a human being. Discuss the issue. Be kind, but firm!

At the very least we are letting them know that we aren't being tricked with this "guestworker" garbage. We know it is an amnesty! These guestworker programs all propose full US citizenship for illegal aliens.

No Shop Day Details

STOP AMNESTY - DO NOT SHOP ON MONDAY, JANUARY 12
Send Bush a Message in Mexico

See this story about the plans for an amnesty deal in Mexico.
http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20031212-025708-2243r.htm

NO PLACE TO GO?
Carl Rove is advising President Bush that he can shove amnesty down
our throats because the people have -- NO PLACE TO GO, -- i.e., both
parties support the move. Since he says we have -- NO PLACE TO GO, --
we should all GO NO PLACE on Monday, January 12, the first day of
Bush's visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City.

Do no shopping on Monday, January 12. Buy nothing. Stay home from the
movies and restaurants, etc.

If enough Americans do this, Bush will be forced to back down on
amnesty and begin enforcing our immigration laws.

We must do this.

Spread the word.

Unless of course you think destitute illegals should pay for our retirement benefits.

Why not? They took millions of our jobs away, didn't they?

Worried about your job?

That reminds me of a discussion with a Republican friend. Senator Cornyn is coming a round the state trying to drum up support for his guest worker idea. He got an earful from one of the activists (the guy I was discussing this with), so our local Republican functionary (in a party position, who happens to be a lawyer) got up and announced that immigrants werent talking jobs people wanted and "he wasnt worried" about losing jobs to immigrants.

As my friend recounted this, I blurted out: "Well of course he's not worried" I replied "How many *lawyers* are crossing the Rio Grande from Mexico?"

Bush's plans, many of which are similar to ideas endorsed by the Democratic presidential candidates in their platforms and debates, would be the most broad changes to immigration law since a bill signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986.

I hope that's all it is --- I'd like to see if Bush might suggest to Fox that he develop some of his own jobs, health care, education, and retirement for his citizens instead of demanding it all be handed over by us.

For example --- a Mexican ex-president makes $5 million a year (10 times what an American ex-president makes) --- maybe Fox could donate those salaries for the cause.

I can't say I have talked to any Border Guards, but I know their numbers have increased and the amount of drugs crossing the borders have decreased since 2001. The vehicles coming across the borders are scrutinized much more than before. I call that a start, and much more than has been done in the past. So you can condemn thia administration on what Make Allen of the WP tells you, I'll stick to the facts
