No. Borders, language, and culture do not grant one a conscience.

So, you believe in rewarding criminal behavior? Ooookie. Got it.

Right. My real agenda is pro-crime. You figured it out.

It means the moderator has decided that this thread has degenerated into a "flamewar" or "heated discussion" and removed it from the sidebar, and buried it. If you look all the topics and keywords have been removed, except for "heated discussion." I don't know why it happened on this thread.

But football is news. /sarcasm

Back in the 80s, U.S. technology companies used to advertise a job opening for about half the going salary. When no Americans would bite, the companies would whine to the government that they coulnd't find any Americans to fill these jobs, and so they should be allowed to fast-track overseas workers on Visa programs to fill the jobs. My father, as publisher of the IEEE Computer Society, rejected these dishonest "job advertisements."

There's no shortage of labor. There's no shortage of Americans who want to work. It's just the Americans want to be paid fairly. The companies see a vast resource of cheap labor that they want to bring in, whatever the cost to the country in terms of crime, terrorism, welfare, etc.

You mean "illegal" immigrants, right? Not "immigrants."

"It would be much easier for a terrorist to enter this country by crossing our southern or northern border."

Let's see, there's my contention, and there's yours.

I can prove mine, unfortunately it happened exactly like that already, you however, can't because nothing of the sort has actually happened.

There's a 50-50 chance of anyone trying to get into the country by crossing the border illegally being caught, there's a much higher probability of getting in legally, if you have no previous criminal/terrorist connections it shoots up to 100%.

"The GOP leadership cares nothing for the majority of lawabiding, taxpaying citizens and legal resident aliens who want our immigration laws enforced."

So then, you are suggesting that I am a lawbreaking, tax-evading, illegal alien Mammie who does not want our immigration laws enforced?

Who's discussing immigration laws Mammie?

The topic of the thread is Social Security and legal immigrants.

They come here legally? I was under the impression they were "cutting in line" in front of the people from around the rest of the world who were attempting to immigrate to the U.S. legally.

Census 2000 results indicate that there between 8 and 11 million illegal aliens living in the United States in 2000. The Center for Immigration Studies has reported that Census Bureau stats show that 700,000 to 800,000 new illegal aliens were settling in the U.S. during the late 1990s and that around 1 million settled in the most recent year of record. Far more than that enter illegally each year, but there is a lot of back and forth. The 1 million represents illegals who truly settle in for at least a couple of years, and usually much, much longer. (http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/illegalimm.html)

Way less than we stopped?

Did you forget to read the part of the census explaining that only 50% of illegal aliens enter the US by crossing the border from Mexico?

Most illegal aliens that the census is talking about, are people who have overstayed their visas.
