CRAWFORD, Tex., Jan. 3 -- President Bush will propose protections for the Social Security taxes paid by the workers who would come into the country under massive changes to immigration laws he plans to announce on Wednesday, Republican officials said Saturday.

Bush's plan would make it possible for such workers from Mexico and perhaps other countries to collect retirement benefits without being penalized by their home countries for the years they spent working in the United States, the officials said.

Officials began releasing details of Bush's plan shortly before Christmas and provided new details over the weekend. The officials said Bush's plan will contain a new system to help workers who want to enter from Mexico or other countries if they have jobs waiting for them. It also includes a mechanism for some undocumented residents to continue working in the United States and get on a path to legal status.

I'm simply pointing out that those things falling on your head are raindrops, not pieces of sky.

>Bush should concentrate on the 3,000,000 Americans who have lost their jobs since he took office instead of worry about millions of illegal aliens... I voted for Bush in '00, but I can guarantee you it won't happen again.
Good for you. Vote for Howard Dean.<

One issue that has not passed the congress will certainly NOT sway my vote from Bush. I am not in favor of such pandering, but DEAN is totally out of the question, he cannot make up his mind just what he means when he says something. He requires a translator the next day to apologize for what he said the day before... No thanks, I will keep my vote for America and stay with Bush.

YOU know your right, BUT not on the grand scale that we would be providing mexicans MILLIONS AND MILLIONS all sitting around waiting for us to send them their social security checks, we would have the older population of mexico crossing the borders into AMERICA working the quarters needed to file for SS and then they are set for life, this scheme will bankrupt this nation, and I would think that even mexicans that are here for many generations would not want this to happen, I guess I was wrong,ANYTHING FOR THE RACE RIGHT .

There is neither "misrepresentation of the truth" nor "inconsistency" in my posts, Gonzalez, only in your mind!

"It makes absolutely no sense for terrorists to try the most perilous way into the country, when they have the money and ability to enter the country legally, giving them far more chances to gain entry."

Contrare! It would be much easier for a terrorist to enter this country by crossing our southern or northern border... If illegals can do it by the hundreds of thousands what makes you think a terrorist would have a problem?

Well said

>>so you have a choice, you can be a tool for the left and scream from the roof tops that Bush will grant amnesty, or you can wait for his actual proposal like the rest of us who refuse to be played like a Fiddle<<<

"Not to mention that it is a felony to make a false claim on a federal tax form."

Apparently only for Americans.

It means the moderator has decided that this thread has degenerated into a "flamewar" or "heated discussion" and removed it from the sidebar, and buried it. If you look all the topics and keywords have been removed, except for "heated discussion." I don't know why it happened on this thread.

When the thread was first posted it was listed under News and had this URL:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1051196/posts.

It was then relocated to the Backroom and given a new URL of:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1051196/posts

Moving the thread to the backroom is like being banished to Siberia.

I tell you what, when the actual proposal comes out we will debate it then. You nor I know what's in it this proposal, or even if there is one at all, and frankly, I'm tired of your condescenfding remarks. So you keep right on wringing your hands, We'll talk again when there is something to debate,

See ya then

We need a rule that states that if it's moved to the Backroom then no one is allowed to ping/whine to the moderator. :-)

Arriba, as Jorge would say!

Thanks, DumpsterDiver... Hopefully the message got out that a lot of people are not in favor of Bush's proposal and Congress will dispose of it.

I'm betting that CJ was that kid on the playground that would provoke other kids to pick on her and then run tattle and hurry back to watch the other kids get in trouble.
