He did consider himself a dutch S.A.
He had a very hard time finding a place to live near work, it was in Downtown Cincinnait. He wouldn't even apply to the local YMCA, instead he asked about our suburbia YMCA. We had to tell him the only housing YMCA were DWTN Cincinnati, and across the river in Ky.
He wouldn't live in those places, because of the "blacks" living there.
He was sad.

Due to many of the reasons listed on this thread, people of European ethnic stock will be gone. GONE.

I know a group of white Rodesians who immigrated here 20 years ago. Don't know what it is like today. I thought people who ask for political asylum could come here. What happened?

He sounds like some of my friends, and say friends loosely because sometimes I have to cover my ears! Either he is basing that on his experiences with blacks in SA OR he got a prejudiced, negative report from an American white person which happens often.
I remember my boyfriend telling me that many white SA's used to be happy to get black tourists from other countries because that meant an intelligent conversation. He was used to black africans but can't say he enjoyed their company much. He's been living here in USA for a while, and I've never heard him say anything negative about black people. SA has gotten a lot of bad press, most of it undeserved and anyone who wants to understand the country has to read A LOT of different material.

Unfortunately it has been human nature to react to injustice with more injustice, wrongdoing with more wrongdoing.
Here's an example. For centuries deaf people were put in institutions, and when they weren't, they were forced to learn how to speak (an impossibility when there weren't even hearing aids). They were punished for reverting to their natural communication--sign language. When they were finally allowed to use sign language around the 1970s, they overreacted by forming extremist groups that say that speaking, or even reading, is "traitorous" to the deaf community. Then you've got Malcolm X, Zimbabwe, etc.
Now those who have been freed in Iraq after decades under one tyrant's rule are going to the opposite extreme, and embracing communism.
Humanity is incapable of finding a middle ground, sadly.

I believe the rule was that if you had one great grand parent who you could prove was British or Irish you could get one of those passports. Englishmen moved in and out of the area so most of the English speaking population could do this if the wished. Those of Dutch, Portuguese, and other European ancestry could not leave with only a South African passport as no one would take them.

I think you're being a bit alarmist, but you're welcome to your opinion. Then again. So what? There are people with black skin who are more European that some ill mannered white people I know. It's not as if civilized culture is going to disappear.

My wife is from SA, and calls her sister, who lives in Rivonia, almost every weekend. I spent a year in Morningside, right next to Rivonia where we went to get pizza.

I was wondering about the US. Why aren't people (from anyplace) allowed in if they are about to be murdered for political reasons in their own country? What are the US rules for getting political asylum?

"On the other hand, it still upsets me to think how, Maybe, a land is taken over without any due respect to the original citizens."
Then perhaps we should ALL hand our land back to Neanderthals?
What many don't realize is that European colonization gave the "original citizens" the ONLY culture that has ever succeeded there. If it wasn't for that, the "original citizens" would still be eating each other for dinner and sacrificing their children to the "Gods".

Everyman ever born was born with a brain, and intellect.
Anyways.
There was a very successful culture already living here. They may not have been socially cultured, but they existed. After the world wide flood, these "Neanderthals" did pretty good on their own, considering they survived to that point of "European Colonization". Personally, I see nothing wrong with us being here now. However, I felt a tiny bit of sorrow for some of the American Indians. Just as I did for the captured and tortured slaves, of all cultures past to present. And I honestly didn't know that there were cannibals in what is now America? I knew they existed in some other countries, and some islands. But like I professed, maybe I lack some knowledge. I'm sure that makes me a Neanderthal too!

Welcome to FreeRepublic. You will see many common myths which are taught in public schools destroyed here.
I have children in public schools, and I am stunned at the nonsense they are indoctrinated with in the process of "education"
Again, WELCOME!!! Learning and sharing opinions is what this forum is all about.
