"Bush's position comes despite the fact that several of the Sept. 11 hijackers used Florida driver's licenses."When those licenses were issued, they were here legally. The hijackers (all but one I believe) entered the country legally, and overstayed their visas.

Bush reportely commented that illegal immigrants should be kept out of the country, but once they are here they shouldn't be ignored.
You're not serious, are you?

"Bush reportely commented that illegal immigrants should be kept out of the country, but once they are here they shouldn't be ignored." Of course they shouldn't be ignored, but they sure as hell shouldn't get special benefits just for being criminals.
Wake me up when its over. On second thought, just don't wake me up at all.

That can't be right. Jeb supports a migrant worker program which would make them
legal aliens and if they are here legally and are allowed to drive, then they should be licensed PROVIDING there is clear indication on the license of the immigration status of the holder. Let's hope this Dan Stein guy has it wrong. There isn't much substance to his report.

Since 1949, when the United Nations sanctioned its use, the International Driver's License (IDL) has allowed International Travelers to drive freely throughout the world. Therefore there should be no need to issue a state drivers license for foreigners since if they were to follow the existing rules in place they could obtain the IDL a with legal passport or visa!
Yet with an IDL, they would have to register as a visitor agreeing to go home , limiting their stay, it would not allow banking as to be able to wire money out of the country or voting privileges and social services as a state license would, which is really what the licenses issue is all about , and not driving at all!

This might have something to do with a recent van crash: There's always a cover story.
What it's really about is pesky pizza delivery boys asking for $7 per hour. And every other transportation job. Insourcing illegals to undercut the wage market power of american citizens has one significant hurdle: licenses. To overcome it one has to change the law. Therefore the transportation and similar lobbies bribe politicians with campaign funds to change the law. A short term profit strategy relatively cheap to put into effect...if it weren't for those damn voters!
Labor costs that can't be lessened by outsourcing will be lessened by insourcing illegals. The cover stories are "safety" and "insurance". Though the last isn't off the mark - it's not about "insuring" people taking their kids from school, but commercial insurance.
You in the transportation industry? Welcome to "free" trade.

Hmmm...I'd take this with a grain of salt. I've never heard of this site before, and I find it hard to believe that the mainstream media wouldn't be beating this drum for all that it's worth in order to turn us right-inclined folks against Jeb and his brother.
It could be true, but I'm skeptical.

Genes will out. He is a BUSH, afterall. They never saw an illegal they didn't love and demand the American worker and taxpayer support.

The Stein Report (Dan Stein of FAIR)?
I'll believe it when I read a press release from a more credible source.
He likes Drudge Report's formatting, that much is obvious.

And how would having a driver's license solve that problem? 90% of the people that have a license are horrible drivers.
