Holiday for Atheists
vanity | 12/16/2004 | Tasmanianred

Posted on 12/16/2004 6:03:17 PM PST by TASMANIANRED

I have about had it with all the attacks on Christmas, Christmas Trees, Nativity Scenes, Christmas Carols on and on.

Do you think we could get them to shut up if we gave Atheists their own day to raise their self esteem. Maybe with their own day they won't be so offended that there are Christians that hold December 25th precious.

Give them February 11. It doesn't seem to belong to anyone else.

They can give each other bags of hot air.

They can have a meal of grouse, sour grapes and toast each other with pickle juice.

They can sit in the dark singing nothing and feel grim and smug while being alone in the universe.

When I screened February 11 to see if it was assigned elsewhere, I must have not recognized your parents name. I am sorry.

Do you know any athiests? I mean, how many of them are there? Not too many by all accounts. And they have the power to screw your holiday up to such an extent?

I think they should have a day of dedication to themselves .

I already have a day of dedication to myself. It's called "my birthday".

I'll be celebrating it in nine days.

They only thing I have seen posted from the news is that they are offended by trees that are triangle shaped, nativity scenes, certain songs and melody's, and in one school system the colors.

No, you've been hearing about the ones who are offended by such things. You won't know about the ones who don't make such a fuss, because they're not in the news.

Christians represent 80% of the population in the USA, and yet so many are convinced that they are an oppressed minority.

And at the Festivus dinner, you gather your family around, and you tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year.

99 percent of atheists don't seem to have any problem with Christmas. It's that vocal one percent that are causing all the problems.

True. The squeaking wheel gets the grease.

Realistically, when you wish someone a 'Merry Christmas' you are wishing them joy, peace, friendship, etc.
You're not inviting them to join you in worship.

I don't think there are many people offended by someone making the wish. They just want to exhibit power and be a PIA.

The backlash is gathering steam.

What a load of drivel. As an atheist, I think I'll just go on celebrating the secular christmas, but thanks for playing.

How about DarksMess, where they can celebrate the dead-end emptiness of their lives and give praise to all those great civilizations and rights fostered by atheists... (crickets chirping)... well, I guess they can each just give praise to their own bitter lonely supreme selves.

You have no one to blame for this anti-Atheist sentiment but your self centered buddies at the Church of Atheism.

Is there such a thing?

I have never disliked an entire group of people more than I dislike Atheists right now. I am so so very sick of it!

If it was a fight they wanted they have bit off more than they can chew.

Give them February 11. It doesn't seem to belong to anyone else.

Ronald Reagan proclaimed February 11th as Inventor's Day back in 1983.

February 11th is Thomas Edison's birthday.

Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

The drivel is coming from your fellow Atheists. The drivel is that you dont stand up for what is right and start your own holiday- leave mine alone!

Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reach for the last one they had - but so did another man. As I rained blows opon him, I realized there had to be another way!
