Mix government jobs and government unions, and you'll get that crap. Don't feel bad, it's everywhere. It is the government unions that are the problem and until that is addressed, (not necessarily the employees) we have a problem.

Just like industrial unions, where I have some experience, members of gov unions don't pay much attention to what the leadership does. but the left has focused on controlling every union and use them to meet their agenda, not those of the average worker. They are worms that we must eradicate.

You could learn how to be a gentleman. And while you were at it, you could stand to sit back and reflect a little before shooting your mouth off.

Is that a directed proscription, or does it apply to all --- including yourself?

Or is it simply more "shut up you uncouth Yankee, I don't want to hear any facts" that the neo confederates usually default to.

So far on this post, I have been accused of being stupid, of being a DU troll, and I'm not even sure what else. But as of now, I have yet to go after any individual like you have.

Perhaps, if you don't care for rigorous debate, based on fact, you may want to visit some other site. Or maybe grow up a little.

Actually, in our case it's not the unions, but the liberal academia of UT & the Government employees. Almost as bad as Unions......

I will cetainly vouche for the fact you are NO DU Troll, and in fact are usually very polite. Yes, we have had our disagreements over the causes etc. of the "Late UnPleasantness" but you have been a gentleman.

Mac: We all can get testy at times, myself included. The thing that we all need to keep in mind on these threads is that like it or not, we are all in the same boat, (or at least till the blue states secede! :) and we need to attempt to be civil.

He was before the war, before he was against the war. It's a nuance thing, you know.

He was a POLITICIAN, not a statesman, whose actions led to the deaths of over one million people.

John Kerry with a tall hat.

The difference being that Lincoln won two consitutionally held elections to the office of President of the United States, despite the best efforts of a rotten group of southern slave hounds.

Oh yeah, and he beat a Democrat both times...

OFFICE COMMISSARY-GENERAL OF PRISONERS,

Washington, D. C., May 19, 1864.

Honorable E. M. STANTON, Secretary of War, Washington, D. C.:

SIR: I have the honor to suggest that the ration as now issued to prisoners of war may be considerably reduced without depriving them of the food necessary to keep them in health, and I respectfully recommend that hereafter the ration be composed as follows, viz: [redacted]

I also recommend that ration of sugar and coffee, as above fixed, be issued only every other day.

I have the honor to be, very respectfully, your obedient servant,

W. HOFFMAN,

Colonel Third Infantry and Commissary-General of Prisoners.

[First indorsement.]

MAY 19, 1864.

The within recommendation is referred to the Chief of Staff, the Commissary-General and Commissary-General of Prisoners, and Surgeon-General for report.

EDWIN M. STANTON,

Secretary of War.

[Second indorsement.]

MAY 19, 1864.

Respectfully referred as above directed. Why not dispense with tea, coffee, and sugar and reduce the ration to that issued by the rebel Government to their own troops?

H. W. HALLECK,

Major-General and Chief of Staff.

[Third indorsement.]

I concur with the views expressed by Major-General Halleck.

J. P. TAYLOR,

Commissary-General of Subsistence.

[Fourth indorsement.]

I respectfully approve of the reduction of the ration as suggested by Major-General Halleck.

W. HOFFMAN,

Colonel Third Infantry and Commissary-General of Prisoners.

[Fifth indorsement.]

SURGEON-GENERAL'S OFFICE, May 19, 1864.

The reduction proposed by Major-General Halleck could be carried out with the exception of the ration for the sick and wounded, who would require that proposed by Colonel Hoffman or more than its equivalent in medicine and hospital items.

Very respectfully,

J. K. BARNES,

Acting Surgeon-General.

[Sixth indorsement.]

MAY 27, 1864.

Proposed ratio, except that sick and wounded are to have tea, coffee, and sugar, approved.

H. W. HALLECK,

Major-General and Chief of Staff.

[Seventh indorsement.]

The ration approved by the Chief of Staff and Surgeon-General approved.

EDWIN M. STANTON,

Secretary of War.

Well, you can believe what you like, but there is no evidence linking either Lincoln or Stanton to any plot to kill Confederate leaders.

In Kilpatrick's memoir, authored by Moore and published in 1865, he states the plan had the approbation of Lincoln and Stanton in all its details.

like i've said NUMEROUS times, NOTHING you've posted on these threads required:

1. an IQ "above room temperature",

2. logic,

3. thought and/or

4. an educational level greater than 3d grade.

posting NONSENSE like # 1556 just makes you look like a DUMB-bunny.

why not shut off your PC, head over to the library & LEARN something/anything?

then, you MIGHT look smarter & not be the MAIN laughingstock of FR.

otoh, you COULD "log-off" of FR & head over to DU, where you :

1. could sup with Whisky Papa, #3 fan. cvn76 & other FORMER FReepers, who've joined the ANTI-freedom DU denizens

2.would be one of the more intelligent class of REVISIONIST, lincoln-worshiping damnyankees of the DIMocRATS party.
