Arnold’s “Go green!” attitude comes in reality to mean “Burn baby burn!”, for the “environmental” forest management policies leave humans exposed to more risk of harm. Humans first, Arnold.

Save us your lame jokes...
There is nothing funny about what is happening.

Thousands of Firefighters are putting their lives on the line trying to save tens of thousands of homes.

Here we go again.

Fire scorching homes built where they never should have been built in the first place. The CA ecosystem has been based on periodic brush clearing by fire for thousands of years. Man has interrupted that cycle, and now they are paying for it. I read that there had not been a fire in this area for nearly 50 years and that the underbrush had not been cleared in that time.

If you want to avoid this in the future, they need to implement strict building codes:

Brush clearing — nobody should be allowed to let their property be overgrown.

Fire retardent roofs — cement tile, metal, etc. Rigorously enforce this. Remove all wood shingle roofs.

Build multiple access roads — more than one way out of all areas.

Reduce crowding — tear down buildings too close to their neighbors’. Increase lot sizes.

Fire breaks between subdivisions must be kept cleared — open space with no vegetation.

Reservoirs for water storage.

I know that sounds harsh, and implementation will mean that many people currently living in these areas will have to move; but it must be done, or we will see this pattern repeated.

In the mean time, I feel terrible for those who are losing their houses, pets, and perhaps their lives.

So you’re going to let the government dictate what everyone can do with their property? How about letting them just take their chances, they know where they are building, if their houses burn down, tuff.

Hm... I seem to remember something from some text... something about a promise of “The fire next time.”

--for nearly sixty years, starting out when listening to the barn radio in the late 'forties (1940's for those from Rio Linda, not 1840), I have been hearing tales of California brush fires and mudslides--

-- when you Commiefornians get smart enough to not build homes on unstable material, and to elect politicians who will allow you to clear brush from near your expensive homes, I won't be able to make jokes about it---

Re: “Schwarzenegger Urges Illegals to get in Path of Flames as Fire Roars in Three Directions.
well,i can hope,can’t i?”

*********

Yes, you can always have hope, but most illegals would not be affected by these fires unless someone burns down the L.A. basin itself and San Fernando Valley ‘floor’ where there is rarely anything more than a one-house fire. The big wildfires are always in the hilly areas where generally most residents are not illegals.
