Interview with Virgil Goode: How Do We Elevate Constitutional Principles?
Forbes ^ | 28 Aug 12 | Bill Flax

Posted on 08/29/2012 6:46:58 AM PDT by xzins

...Virgil Goode has long supported a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, which recently cleared the House. He advocates “currency that is real and backed by gold or silver.”

Goode champions “fair and equitable opportunity, but it’s up to you to use it. Government cannot ensure equal results because every individual differs;”

An ardent proponent of balancing the budget, our deficits Goode insists, stem from “spending.” “Taxes should be simple and fair … I’m not for increasing income taxes; if we even have an income tax.”

The candidate laments “too much federal involvement in our lives” offering as an example the Department of Education, “should not be involved, schooling should be determined by states and localities …

“Government forcibly redefining marriage to include anything other than one man and one woman would be totally foreign to the views of the framers of the Constitution, first ten amendments and Declaration of Independence.”

Goode denies that the Founders, men of “deep-seated values,” would consider a cross on the town square or the Ten Commandments posted at school “as un-constitutional... public displays “aren’t forcing religion on anyone,

He adamantly opposed our Libyan debacle

Goode implores “following the Constitution, we can’t let the UN decide” clarifying “I don’t mind working with allies like we did in World War One and Two, but I’d never let U.S. troops serve under UN command. ...

“I’m totally opposed to illegal immigration and will put a moratorium on new Green Cards until unemployment reduces. Jobs should [go] to U.S. citizens first.” Goode would “eliminate automatic birthright citizenship”

Going the third party route is admittedly precarious ... unless living in a key battleground state, it’s unlikely your vote matters much. Likewise, for the many voters (that) might stay home, pulling the lever for Goode seems sound.

It's great out here, it was a good week where we went, so all things considered, life is good.

This thread on the other hand......

Oh I know exactly what you mean. It used to be you could tell kids how to spell 'dog' and 'cat' and they didn't curse you and insist that it's 'dawg' and 'katz'.

Every time I get bored or angered by the stupidity of the GOP, I just think of the alternative and panic.........

The people on this thread don't know how much money and help the Bambi campaign is throwing to Virgil "democrat tool" Goode and any other poser who will help reelect this nightmare of an administration.

Useful idiots is too nice a term for these folks.

The GOP has made it clear even as recently as yesterday that it doesn't not need nor want my conservative ideals sullying their club.

What a bunch of nonsense. The GOP platform is one of the most conservative in history. Social conservatives like Rick Santorum are thrilled with.

I'm under no delusion as to who the candidates are, my friend. Neither am I trying to fool myself into believing that Romney is in stark contrast with Obama. Voting for Romney is simply replacing a Black Mamba with a King Cobra.

Just stop. You sound like a child having a tantrum. This country has a two party system. You are not going to get your way most of the time when it comes to the party's general election candidate. That's how 2 party systems work. They are as much about defeating an opposition as getting our own side elected. I wish we had a different system sometimes to be honest. I wish we had a system that allowed for coalition building. I am not sure our winner take all, 2 party system is all that super sometimes, but it's what we've got. Most of us under 40 have never had a presidential candidate we could really be excited about voting for in a general election. For the rest, Reagan is probably it.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not voting for Obama either... but my non-vote for Romney is not a vote in favor of Obama.

You can try to convince yourself of that, but in the end, yes, you are helping enable Obama. Romney is the only ballot you can cast that has any usefulness in removing Obama from office. I know it, you know it and everyone else with a lick of sense knows it too.

“In this era of relativity, we’ve gotten away from the Christian principles which made families stronger, gave a compass to individuals.”

You're preaching to the choir my FRiend. Republicans have made their pact with the devil, and Conservatives must abide as our own honor dictates. The R's and C's go their separate ways.

I agree, FRiend. You don’t do evil hoping for some kind of good result.

Send your invoice for 'services rendered' to: 0bama for America 1600 Pennsylvania Ave Washington, DC 20666"

LOL. I'll do that. But you'll not need to go through so many hoops as your remuneration from the RNC/GOPe will be left stacked neatly in $100 bills on top of the dresser.

Hi xzins: I get a kick out of these threads. Thanks for pinging me.

So please get me up to speed. What is the latest evil that will befall us if we don’t vote for willard? Toads? Plagues of boils? Mayan apocalypse? The heartbreak of psoriasis?

I do get a kick out of the sense of entitlement that pervades so many of the “Any Socialist But Obama” posts. They seem to think that the gop is somehow ENTITLED to the votes of conservatives. And then act like a bunch of petulant welfare queens if they can’t convince you that willard is Our Salvation.

To keep you up to date on my completely unscientific poll of willard signs and bumper stickers in VA. Willard broke the double digit barrier earlier this week and I have him at 11. I’m not counting the “defeat mitt” sticker I saw earlier today, but I did count the willard sticker on the car with FL plates. I lost count of the hussein stickers and lawn signs, but I reckon its in the 40s.

Are you going to celebrate the end of the convention? If so, how? FRegards, RD

I’m not watching the convention, so it’s not affecting me one way or the other. I can’t tell you if Ann Romney wore a yellow dress or a green dress or....I just don’t know.

I know what I need to know. Romney is a homosexualist, anti-life, anti-gun, big government liberal. Any attempt to pretend he isn’t is a lie.

So, I refuse to watch the lie.

I agree that there are two teams, I just think you have the lineup wrong. On the first team we have the dems, the gop-e, hussein, willard, nasty nancy, the weeper, and dingy. I can say with 100% certainty that they’re going to win the election.

On the other side we have Everyone Else who isn’t affiliated with the first team. They’re going to lose the election.

I still pick Everyone Else.

Goode differentiated his platform from the Libertarian Party, which also favors limited government, “Gary Johnson is pro-choice and supports ‘gay’ marriage.” As an obvious devotee of constitutionalism, Goode noted “the Bill of Rights protects life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness stated in the Declaration,” emphasizing the word life.

Exactly what kind of constitutionalism is Goode a devotee of? Original intent, or "living document" textualism?

I’m greatly fortunate in that I don’t have cable. So I’ve missed the convention as well. I think the dress was red, though.

Although I’m a Virgil supporter I’m embarassed to note that I have yet to put a bumper sticker on my car. I think I’ll do that tomorrow. Seems appropriate.

“Exactly what kind of constitutionalism is Goode a devotee of? Original intent, or “living document” textualism?”

I don’t know for sure. But it would appear that he’s borrowing from the declarationist school of thought. Whether that’s his personal devotion, I guess you’d have to ask.

You want that on your conscience preacher?

Let's see, Romney has done or publicly stated the following just this year:

1. Supports Gay Adoption.
2. Supports Gays in the Military (WIll not re-instate DADT if he is elected)
3. Supports Murdering Unborn Babies (Abortion)for Incest and Rape, and Life of the Mother
4. Supports Murdering Unborn Babies for the HEALTH(Left-wing Code-Word for making up any reason for Murdering your baby) of the Mother.
5. Refused to step in on the side of Chick-Fil-A because "That's not what my campaign is about".
6. His surrogates in the GOP-E tried to push through rules that would completely shut-out conservatives, A.K.A, the Tea-Party with regards to future nominations and the direction of the GOP

xzins, on the other hand, has been steadfast in his opposition to the immorality of each of these issues and refuses, as a Christian preacher, to support somebody who is supporting the sinful agenda of Homosexuality (A sin God calls abomination) and Murder (on of the 10 commandments). This same crappy man you have come out in full support of, and you have the temerity to speak to him about his conscience?

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you a professing Christian?

If you are not, I apologize in advance because this probably means nothing to you anyway.

I've read the Bible many times over and as far as I can remember there is not even the hint of supporting evil to overcome evil.

Show me anywhere in the Bible where our God, his Prophets, our Lord and Savior, or his Apostles commanded Christians or the Jews to Evil that Good may come.

Please, show me in context where this concept is communicated by our God to you and me as a correct way of living our life.

And yet I can post verse after verse commanding those who would please God to separate themselves from those who choose to do evil, to even shun them if they continue to do evil as Mitt Romney has done for years in terms of Abortion, Homosexuality, and Lying.

1 Thessalonians 5:22

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

In one place we are commanded to "come out from among them and be ye separate".

The Old Testament is replete with examples of God punishing Israel because they refused to separate themselves from the sinful people inhabiting Israel.

Is your Christianity as situational as your ethics?
