What is this “Johnny Football” garbage? Such a puerile nickname. Sorry, not impressed. He has three touchdowns against ranked opponents. As for Bama . . . well, Manti would not want to play for such a genetic cesspool squad rife with so many gray-shirts and junior college transfers. He has more integrity than that.

I take it you have never seen him play....save your criticizing until after you see him play. I am a woman and football isn’t my life, but Johnny is really something. He is also very good in his classes at Texas A&M. The arrest was because he was taking up for a friend. Anyway, he’s a good kid. We are happy to have him in our community.

Additionally Te’o’s story is story book, returning Notre Dame to glory and capturing the heart of a nation after playing in the same week he lost both his girlfriend and grandmother, and doing it all with a team expected to lose five games this season.

Manti Te'o ought to move to South Carolina and run for Congress in the First District--He could give Mark Sanford some competition!

They are saying that the Heisman once had a tradition of including in its criteria "that player who has meant the most to his team" and Manti certainly has a lot to do with Notre Dame's achievements this year, game in and game out. It's not all about winning. It's more about the inspiration he has given this team. And on the personal character issue . . . hands down, its Teo.

Yes, Te'o deserved the Heisman on the basis of personal character alone. There needs to be a recount of the Heisman vote!
