George Will: Let’s face it — besides Nixon’s, this is pretty much the worst second term, ever

It’s been a rough fifth year in office for President Obama, with overwrought sequestration scare tactics, Scandalpalooza, and the Syrian debacle all chipping away at his leadership street cred, among other things — but this disaster of an ObamaCare rollout is really hammering the heightened disapproval home with what’s starting to look like a majority of Americans. During past job-performance dips, O’s job approval rating has been reliably bolstered by his personal favorability ratings and Americans’ sense of trust in him — but the health care law is helping to erode those usual go-to’s, and quickly. Lincoln tops the list of horrible Presidents. No one else comes close.

Would a second bloody civil war change your mind?

If so, stick around...

Don’t get me wrong, if CWII starts Obama will surpass Lincoln on the worst list.

Obam already is worse except for the fact Lincoln has the higher body count.

But remember, just recently we found out that Obama thinks he is really good at killing so the book is still being written.

In my (very limited) exposure, All Jazz seems to be more unbiased, LOL

At least for now, they're still trying to woo viewers.

CNN used to accurately report news once upon a time.

Once they established a viewership, the agenda slowly, subtly slithered in.

To put it in perspective, a war on that scale today would give us 5.5 million casualties with around 3.3 million killed and 2.2 million wounded.

To put that in perspective obama mentor Bill Ayers advocated flat-out murdering 25,000,000 Americans.

It won’t be getting any better, for the country, or for Obama, and there is nothing his media can do to patch things back together.

Good point.

These commie ba****ds won't be content until they earn a place in the history books on the same page as Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and Kim Il Sung.

Not even close. Mr. Nixon still loved this country and was attempting to stop Socialist decadence.

Lincoln saved the country, and was murdered for it.

Obama seems to be attempting to destroy the country, and his end remains to be seen.

If you include US deaths from Spanish Flu, largely able to mutate to a more lethal strain due to the war, WWI has the highest body count.

Nixon’s downfall was created by reasons I never fully understood. Watergate; Spying on political opposition, when at the time Nixon was leading in the polls. So what he was really looking for?

I agree that the entire Watergate episode does not seem to make sense. But then, extreme paranoia existed in both political parties at the time (and for good reasons). There are probably some facts that have, or will, go to the grave.

However, Nixon was brought down because of evidence that he was compicit in the Watergate cover-up while trying to protect the Watergate planners and plumbers.

There is no evidence at all that he had any direct conection or participation in planning or carrying out the Watergate break-in itself. If there was you can be certain the democrats would have pursued it.

It is almost laughable that Nixon's transgressions are still held up by the media as the biggest crime of any president. Compared to Clinton's lying under oath and Obama's lying and overt criminality, Nixon is just a fallen choir boy.

George Will didn’t quite understand Nixon’s second term.
A great book on ‘Watergate Amendment’

I am not so sure that Nixon tried to protect underlings as he tried to protect the intelligence gathering functions necessary to keep the country secure.

Dean was the evil genius who ordered the Watergate raid. His wife’s name was in a Democrat book of ‘escorts’ that were provided to out of town visitors. That book was in the “plumber’s pocket when they were apprehended.

I would suggest that Buchanan had the worst first term... to let the insurrection get a running head start was probably the worst decision of a US president ever, and he took it from cowardice.

The best second term ever was Carter's. Luckily it was served by President Reagan!

Wasn’t necessary to reveal and to this day baffles me. Because the left and the ministry of onformation is in full control of the media we will never find out what it was.

It is not difficult to understand. President Nixon had been a friend of Senator McCarthy due to both being staunch anti-communists. Mr. Nixon clearly wanted to find proof of the link between the Democrat Party and the Global Communist Movement. Unfortunately the Democrats used that wish to orchestrate his downfall. Nixon was right but he could never find the smoking gun.

This is what James Buchanan’s second term would have looked like.
