I want to thank Claremont for the opportunity to reply to Michael Antons review of my book Bronze Age Mindset. Since at least 2015but in fact from before Trump ever came alongthere has been a tremendous intellectual disturbance or ferment online...that has escaped the notice or surveillance of the mainstream media, the literary and pundit-political establishment, and all those who imagine themselves gatekeepers of public taste and opinion. Trumps campaign beginning in 2015 brought this countercultural phenomenon to view of the authorities, who have been struggling to understand it and contain it ever since.
What are the crazy Pepe frog people online all about? The terms altright and altleft have been designed as catch-all categories to describe what is going on, but theyre misleading. There have been a few inadequate attempts to understand this phenomenon before Antons article: for example Angela Nagles book Kill All Normies, or a few articles by lesser-known journalists. But Antons review of my book is the first big attempt, as far as Im aware, to really try to understand whats going on from a sympathetic point of view; which is to say, non-polemically and without the ulterior intention of getting us censored or of bringing the weight of the national security establishment on our backs. I think Anton, whatever our disagreementsand they seem to be considerablemust be praised for realizing that the phenomenon in question isnt going away and cannot simply be suppressed, but must be understood.
What you are witnessing, I would like to tell the readers of Claremont, is the unraveling of the postwar American regimeor what is mendaciously called by its toadies the liberal world orderin a way that is far more thorough than the disturbances of the 1960s, and with consequences that will be far more dire.

It could be an important article but the author is in love with the sound of his own voice and the windy argle bargal storm proved too much for me.
In this age of the Internet make your points faster and with less wordage.
We’re not the ones escalating it.
Basic self-defense for the Country’s survival is every Patriot’s duty. Too many of my family never came home from overseas.
Understand your point, but it’s already beyond our control. That choice has been made by the Left for us.
Once they seize control of Fedzilla again, it’ll be game on.
They trusted in the Divine providence of God Almighty in their efforts and so must we. I think God is not done with America because God is not yet done with the world. America is a miracle and I think we're in for some more miracles.
When God is done with America, the world plunges into seven years of unimaginable horror - soon , but not yet.
Place mark
Well, he’s talking about himself, so yeah, I don’t completely disagree with you. Also, like “wordage” as a word!
This is a hearty condemnation of the political and government class in America. It points right to the correct enemy and correctly identifies their overt evil.
The most significant take we must internalize from this, today, is that this is not the America of history...the America of history is the country we love and are loyal to. The America of today is ours - and freedoms - true enemy.
it is an America today that is actually worse and more totalitarian than the eastern bloc of the Cold War. A stunning realization for those of us who grew up in the Cold War. Trump IS the insurrection. He is the first shot of the new revolution. And it might well get much harder from here forward.
Look. Define smart for me OK?
Lets just start with that
The intelligentsia is always passing it self off as so intellectual
The DC crowd considers itself soooooooo sophisticated
I dont think theres 10 people out of 500 something there in the three branches of government that have any kind of real degree in any kind of subject for example engineering physics medicine
Theyre all lawyers with cheesy little law degrees
Just because youre a lawyer and you can talk quick does not mean that youre smart
Rush Limbaugh coined the phrase words mean things
In the end you have to imagine , like we do it free republic , that everything you say is going to be converted to words on paper or online
Thus it would behoove Democrats to carefully consider what they say
“...where else does he think this pent-up rage is heading?”
What you say is interesting. He does address this lack of a plan in the piece, and just says: this is not meant to provide a plan.
But what your comments really made me think of was the Ace of Spades post from a day or two ago in which Ace is happy to learn that a large majority of Americans think we might be headed to civil war. He’s happy to know that so many people realize this.
For myself, I’d be happy to see this country divided, although it is not optimal. And perhaps that’s a lazy coward’s way out. Not sure.
Thats really good
We conservatives need to be the calm , confident, circumspect types -not angry- however
My favorite mode is : asking questions, With a very nice tone of voice
You are right, too many lawyers, not enough other people.
I have worked with and for lawyers for over 30 years. And I can tell you forsooth that lawyers are, for the most part, innumerate people who otherwise did well in school. Had they been numerate many would have become doctors, etc. But you know, they can’t do the math.
They also think they are experts in everything, because anything might be litigated (esp. here in the USA).
Now, these people aren’t stupid, but they also have the fatal flaw, they are not as smart as they think they are. Just like my sister-in-law.
“Trump IS the insurrection. He is the first shot of the new revolution. And it might well get much harder from here forward.”
This is a global thing that is happening. It’s amazing Trump stepped up to the plate as he did. It’s going to get a lot harder.

In academia, where the consideration of ideas, of unusual points of view, of political matters, is supposed to proceed objectively and by calm reason, the hysteria is in fact much more intense than in American society at large.
And this is the muslim’s.

Thank you for posting. Most interesting.
What is the “alt right” phenomenon? It’s the rejection of the idea that white men are the source of evil in the world, and that we must atone by sacrificing our interests, and the future of our children, in favor of others.
What terrifies the left, is when white men collectively say, “screw that, I’m going to take care of my own”.
