We Need YOUR HELP!

If anyone would like to post a link to this thread on another thread and doesn't know how, just add a < at the BEGINNING of this URL and then post it. No spaces, just snuggle it right up to the 'a'

a href="http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/798313/posts">Can you help America?

The link will appear as "Can you Help America?" in the thread you are on.

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

(citizens!)

The flag is the symbol of our national unity, our national endeavor, our national aspiration.

I happend to be in Dallas a couple of years ago. As expected, all low-level jobs at the hotel were held by Mexicans. Judging by their looks, quite fresh in the country - can't say whether legal or not. The funniest experience I had at a conference center on the last day of my stay there. We had to check out off our hotels and drop our luggage at the conference center to pick it up in the afternoon when heading for the airport. The 'luggage attendants' were a bunch of Mexican boys, none understanding one word of English. The conference center had hired interpreters to work with the boys to translate to them what it meant when the customer would point to some bag and say things such as 'this is my bag, may I have it please?'

What hotel were you staying at?

The scene I described was at the conference center, not at the hotel. The center is, I believe, the newest one. Construction was still taking place behind it.

The NRA does this, if I am not mistaken.

Exactly! Americans for Immigration Control and The Federation for American Immigration Reform need to get together and mail out "immigration ratings" of candidates/incumbents on yellow postcards (the NRA-ILA uses orange).

Also, let's get a copy of Michelle Malkin's book Invasion in everyone's hands.

IMHO We need Michelle Malkin to head the INS and the Border Patrol. Then if the lady says she needs 25 million bucks to cure the problem we need to demand that Congress give it to her tomorrow.

That would have been the ideal tme to question why people who didn't speak English were being hired to protect your luggage. I'm sure you had a laptop lots of company research papers worth thousands of dollars with you.

I presume any well dressed person could have said "this is my bag, may I have it please?" then got into a car and driven off.

I probably got a couple of busboys dismissed at a local restaurant last evening when my wife and I went out for dinner. After dinner, I asked for the manager. When he came over, I gave him a piece of paper asking if all the employees were here legally and would he mind having me return tomorrow with a sign saying that "XXX Restaruant has illegal aliens working on the diningroom floor. Be careful with your purses, Ladies. These boys broke Federal laws, State laws are nothing to them." He told me that he would verify their legality and if they didn't have Visas they would be dismissed at the end of the shift.

I told him that wasn't necessary. What I was looking for was for him to hire legal employees and not support criminals. He agreed with me that if they weren't legal he would replace them by next weekend. I said Thankyou, that we enjoyed the dinner and would certainly be back next weeekend.

It was a good evening. A bit of polite conversation with the management regarding national security, fine food and fine wine and a lovely lady to enjoy the eveing with. What more could a man ask for?

I sympathize with your effort to save our country.

However, I've given up on this topic. Just like Rome, we have rotted from the inside, and we deserve the invasion. We deserve the unassimilating flood of other cultures that we have asked for. Ever since Americans have decided that any culture is just as good as any other culture (a consequence of amorality and relativism) we were doomed.

Any of the Mexican, Central American, Middle Eastern, Filipino, Chinese, Haitian, or Jamaican immigrants I have known would quickly tell you I am far from being anti-immigrant or disrespectful of people from other cultures, yet whenevr I speak up about immigration, I am branded as a xenophobe by Democrats, a statist by Liberterians, and a "Bush-basher" by Republicans. Nobody seems to want a sane and enforced immigartion policy. A tiny minority of politicians harp on it, and they are promptly destroyed by the political elite.

So be it - open wide the gates! We deserve it!

Colin Powell wants to bring in 15 million more Muslims into the country, even though statistics show that of those immigrants, 15,000 of those would be active, revolutionary terrorists, and 150,000 would be terrorist sympathizers. And that's a number that could snowball, if the militant Muslims make headway. Yet Colin Powell is sacred, and cannot be criticized, because he is Republican and associated with the Bushes.

It's ironic, because I love those immigrants who I have met. I love meeting people from other cultures, and seeing how they think, and interchanging ideas with them. Yet the same people that criticize you and me and others for being concerned about the destruction of our economy, our culture, and our national security from perverse immigration policies, are the same ones that will probably go on a rampage and start killing those immigrants when things get worse. Damn, self-righteous hypocrites, too many Americans have become!

You are right. We do not need to surrender. We can preserve our country. Fight political correctness mind control. Do not celebrate diversity when it means turning a blind eye to immorality, laziness, etc. Speak the truth every chance you get. Getting carried away here.

It is time to stand together to correct this problem. You are the leader in your family. Your kids look to you to protect them. If you don't help us now, will your children be able to look at you with pride or shame in five years. It's your freedom and your way of life that is up for grabs.

Everybody should know by now that I favor severe penalties for all those who hire illegals.

But I would like to comment on a statement.

Being an American is a primarily a state of mind for all of us

I certainly agree with this statement since a country named America doesn’t appear on any map that I have seen. As a matter of fact, those illegal Mexicans are as American as we are since Mexico does appear on the North American continent and Hawaii doesn’t. However, Hawaiians are U.S. citizens and are consequently legal while Mexicans may only be here with the knowledge and approval of the United States government. Also, anyone who hires them without the knowledge and approval of the U.S. government is breaking the law just as bad or worst than the Mexican. IMHO they are worse.

Anyway, we should stick to the facts and not make any mystical states of mind prerequisite for being here.

The lawyers simply say that the company was not aware of the violation.

what about "ignorance of the law is no excuse...."?

I don't want to get too far off the subject of the thread here. When someone asks what nationality you are. Do you reply, a man (presumptuous of me) or do you say, I'm a citizen of the United States of America, or a citizen of Alabama and a resident of Huntstville. I doubt it. You probably say, "I'm an American" and the person recognizes that you are from somewhere in the US. I would doubt that they would presume you are from Mexico or a Canadian.

Did you just get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or are you like me, naturally a pain in the butt and always grumpy.

"ignorance of the law is no excuse...."?

Nice term! My Momma used to say it, all through my formative years.

The point is, forged documents will get you a job with little employer concern.

This is the type of rhetoric, (post#210)(silly, I might add) that mis-directs a rational conversation on immigration. It makes my point that I made in our correspondence last night, and it causes people to become irritated, so that little or nothing is accomplished.

This is what I try to stay clear of. It is not civil, nor is it factual.
