I thought we already have.

I'm not a big fan of alliances.
Seperate groups working for the same goal can be more effective than one large conglomerate.
Once groups merge, they lose their individual voices, and take on the appearance of being part of a machine.
The groups will inherit any negative cynical perceptions people may have of the others.
Why allow the critics to attack and dismiss both FR and PW in one breath rather than two?
You bring Belly Girl to the next FReeper gathering and we will make it official.
I like it.
But only if I get a date with Belly Girl.
On behalf of the Free Republic Network and the 55 chapters it represents, I sent an email to PW asking if they wanted to partner with us (and other groups) this September 11th on our National March Against Terror. I didn't get a response.
We also checked with an attorney who said there is a significant legal liability in crashing someone else's rally, if anything were to happen (Many juries would be starting from the premise that you were crashing an opponent's rally to provoke them, etc.).
Consequently, it was decided as a group to endorse and encourage attendance at stand alone rallies, and, while supporting the activities of groups like the PW, to leave the decision to attend counter rallies up to the individual.
The rule is, when in enemy territory, go for vote suppression, that is go negative on your opponent.
When in friendly territory, go for voter turn out, that is skip the negatives on your opponent and go positive on your guy, and go for increased voter turn out.
Protest Warrior is mostly a negative vote suppression force.
I think FR and PW should be kept separate. FR and PW should only collaborate when in enemy territory like Washington DC, and not in flyover country or even the suburbs.
Going negative in friendly country only suppresses your own supporters. Going negative in the other guys turf, suppresses his votes.
The question would be, was there a reasonable expectation of violence?
Bob J--after seeing pics of protests on their sight, I would LOVE to have these buff citizens on our side if there were to be a "reasonable expectation of violence" lol!
BTW Falcon, I am not trying to be negative about this, only realistic. As I said, it has been discussed by the FRN Board, Exec Team and the chapter leaders. Although I agreed with the conclusions, I'm just the messneger here.
Bump
This type of negotiation requires some series diplomacy.
I will start by having a few high-level talks with belly girl, and we'll see where that takes us.
Sounds good to me =O
I would think any "alliance" would need the approval of Jim Robinson. Just a thought!
Remember, nobody is getting paid to do this, we're all in it because we want to be.
I'd be happy to hear from PW folks on anything on the East Coast from NYC to DC.
Let's Roll!
san francisco freepers and pw's have been working together. I always post our (pw) events and freepers have come. we should continue to work together
How about the Operation Bias Check in NYC?
Uh...wouldn't this make us a vast right-wing conspiracy or something....surely that wouldn't be fair.
I love the energy, wit and passion of Protest Warriors and am a member of our local chapter.
Alliances and coalitions are great since our numbers tend to be small when it comes to street theatre. It is always helpful to agree on strategy beforehand. For instance, infiltrating someone elses rally or protest is not my cup of tea and I would definitely want to know if that is on the agenda.
It's hard sometimes to get FReepers away from their keyboards and onto the streets and a safe, non-violent demo is important to us.
I hope you will post reports of your activities and put me on your ping list when you do.
