I believe he's also the owner of the Washington Times.

He's a world-class loony, and politicians would be well-advised to avoid the guy.

This was posted the other day and I didn't believe it, because it was posted by a newbie. I want to know who was there and who did it now.

I'm guessing here, but in Moon's deluded mind, the "King of Peace" outranks the "Prince of Peace."

What's really frightening is that the article says that in all, 81 members of Congress attended. Soon I imagine they'll be distributing pamphlets in the airport...

Of course there are some weirdos in the House (in both parties). However, I note with a certain smugness that the only Senator named as a recipient of one of Moon's little awards is the appalling Democrat Mark Dayton.

And this somehow give these congressmen credibility. Only in their own minds!

Several U.S. members of Congress – Democrats Sen. Mark Dayton of Minnesota, Rep. Danny K. Davis of Illinois, Rep. Sanford D. Bishop Jr. of Georgia; Republicans Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett of Maryland, Rep. Christopher B. Cannon of Utah, and Rep. Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania – received "Ambassadors for Peace" awards, Berkowitz wrote. There were reportedly 81 members of Congress total at the event.

Time to FReep them.

I guess the D.C. politicians can make an exception to this "separation of church and state" thing if they're honoring a bitchin' dude like Rev. Moon.

We're finding out about this 3 months after the fact?

I'd like to know the names of ALL 81 members.

And there is a videotape of it. I've seen. It is the work of lunatics who are very close to the corridors of power.

''Open your hearts and receive the secrets that heaven is disclosing in this age through me.'"

The religious leader, sounding like a self-proclaimed messiah, is quoted as saying: "In the context of heaven's providence, I am God's ambassador, sent to earth with His full authority. I am sent to accomplish His command to save the world's 6 billion people, restoring them to heaven with the original goodness in which they were created."

Oh, Good Gravy! And in a government building?

I'd like to know the names of ALL 81 members.

I'd love to see that list cross-referenced with a list of Rev. Moon's political donations...

Rev. Moon is a good and sincere man. Conservatives have a lot to be thankful to him for. He has been on the receiving end of history's biggest smear job thanks to his ferocious anti-communism.

Anybody wants to know his real story can check out Carlton Sherwood's excellent biograhy 'Inquisition.'

There was a guy from the Unification church showed up at our office today. He was selling lithographs and asking for donations. His pitch was "raising money for my church", but he never once told anyone what his church was without being asked.

One sucker assumed it was for a local Christian church and pulled out $5 and gave to him.

The trouble is, his organization does own the Washington Times, the only completely conservative newspaper in the US and certainly the only DC-area source of conservative opinion and news. All the movers and shakers in DC on both sides of the aisle read the Washtimes and most of them have good relations with the editorial staff, like Wesley Pruden, and the editorial page writers and columnists. It's a very odd situation. If there were an alternative print news source representing the conservative side this would not be an issue, but of course there isn't one.
