Here's why the Republicans won:

Friday, February 25 Mudcat Slings It Southnow’s Jon Bloom had the chance to sit down with political strategist David “Mudcat” Saunders, a speaker on the “Mind of the South” panel. Saunders, a self-confessed ‘colorful quote,’ did not disappoint. A word of warning to sensitive readers: Saunders did not pull any punches.
SouthNow: Why did the Democrats lose in 2004? Mudcat: They can’t f***’n count. That’s the Democrats’ problem. You don’t get in the football game and punt on first down. You concede nothing. We condeded 20 states at first and then six more by Labor Day. That’s 227 electoral votes. Bush only needed 18 percent of the remaining electoral votes to win.
SouthNow: How important is the South in Presidential elections? Mudcat: The thing about the South is that there were seven more electoral votes in 2004 than there were in 2000. And that trend is only gonna continue.
SouthNow: What’s the prescription for Democrats? Mudcat: There’s only one precription and that’s tolerance. I’m a white, southern male who hunts. I’m a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which has two black members, by the way. I don’t know how many northern Democrats who have tolerance for my kind.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, we don’t say the wrong side won the [Civil] War. Everybody knows slavery was wrong. We say give us our culture.
Intolerance is becoming rampant. It’s culturally and socially unacceptable to be a white, southern male and a Democrat. If we can get past that, we can kick ass.
SouthNow: What’s your strategy for Southern progress? Mudcat: We need to quit all this tap dancin’ around the truth. The truth will set you free. We need to stop tap dancin’ around the issues of guns, gays and God. We’re the party of tolerance, let’s tolerate all cultures. In rural America, we’ve lost our jobs and our health care. So what do we do? We let Republicans divide us.
We preach to the choir. We sit around…and tell each other how great we are. It don’t work. We’ve lost the white male. We need to get ‘em back. We need to get through the cultural wall. It’s a wall of straw. Inside every rural Republican is a Democrat trying to get out.
I had my inner democrat surgically removed a few years back.....
You didn't lose the Southern white male, you evacuated his positions. You aren't where 'he' is, and he doesn't want to go where you are.
I am 'rural' and I WON'T be a Democrat.
I let my democrat out every time I'm on my throne.

Maybe the problem is that the leaders of the Democrats have not been democratically selected? That the entire enterprise is a corrupt fraud and a sham and anyone of average intelligence or better can figure that out?
Here's why the Republicans won:
Up to now all that's been getting through is confused socialistic crap. God help us Republicans if their "real message" is ever allowed to get out.
We got their "message" loud and clear! That's why they lost.
I also think the party is sticking with the message, and that is why Dean is DNC chair. The Rats are doing just fine, in my opinion.
