Normally, I agree with you partner, but this just is not true!

"The Crusades were wrong. We admit it."

Wrong, the crusades did not take place in a vacuum. The jihadists were at the gates of Vienna more than once. Charles Martel "the Hammer" later named the "Holy Roman Emperor" won a crucial battle in central France, otherwise nothing could have stopped islam. No reformation, no reniasence, no freedom in the new world. A thousand years of darkness would have been the result. There are 3 new books coming out on the crusades, I hope the authors point out that Europe has been under attack for over 700 years. Somethings never change. Just ask the people of the Netherlands!

No thanks, isn't Asimov a science fiction writer of some reknown?

I'd suggest an Amplified Study Bible for you. Then we could talk.

Sorry for such a personal question, just trying to figure you out. Considering your neighborhood, your relatives, and the liberal church you attend, I think I see where you are coming from. However, I don't agree with you.

Were all of Christianity to explicitly follow its role model, Christ - as we see evidenced in the Gospels of the Christian Bible - you would not have cause for such a low opinion of Christianity.

Conversely, if all of Islam were to explicitly follow its role model, Mohammed - as evidenced in the Koran and Hadiths - you would have cause for a much lower opinion of Islam.

More than opinion, with you living in such close proximity, your very life would probably be in danger. Assuming, that is, that these neighbors of yours were to fully emulate the founder of their relgion, Mohammed, and assuming you did not capitulate to their "gospel."

With regard to the treatment of women; you cannot judge the treatment of women in islam today with the ancient Chinese practice of binding feet. It's like comparing today's supermarket with the open markets of the ancient near-east. They are not temporaly relevant.

I agree with what you are trying to say to muawayh (sp) but the hallmark of Christ and Christianity is humility. "Christ - as we see evidenced in the Gospels of the Christian Bible - you would not have cause for such a low opinion of Christianity."

I'm reminded of the Word of God in Micah 6:8

"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Agape,

DrMike

Well, I'm not that knowledgable on the subject. When I said the Crusades I was thinking of the invasion and occupation of 'The Holy Land'. I wasn't really thinking of the effort to drive invading Muslims out of Europe.

The deal is, like one poster noted, people pick and chose in religion much like they would in a cafeteria.

When you belong to a Liberal church you learn to discount 99% of the garbage they try to feed you, and strike back when it's totally outrageous ~ no sense wasting your energy on the small stuff because they will eventually try a pitch for something extremely beyond the pale.

Moslems are no different than the rest of us in that regard except they are a bit devoid of organized and informed opinion about what to do with mentally ill, mentally retarded, or sick people. My experience has been that when they observe christian charity as practiced with such folk, they are more than willing to accept the correctness of your moral viewpoint.

The vacant spot in the Moselm outlook is a result of legalism. Brands of Christianity that dwell too much on dogma, doctrine, or legalism can have the same problem. If you belong to such a group you really have to overcome that disability.

With the departure of the AlQaida 9/11 ground support team I don't think we have any Moslems around here who are dangerous.

Actually, the binding of feet is not an "ancient Chinese practice" but one with a rather recent vintage. It was still going on when the Commies took over circa 1950!

I'll matcha chadora in Kabul against bound feet in Peking any time, year for year, right up through that time, and you'll find the women preferring a chadora (assuming anyone bothered to ask their opinion on anything).

So, this evening, when you get home, give your daughter or wife this question ~ do you want to start wearing a chadora, or what time can you set free so I can bined your feet?

The effort to drive Moslems out of Europe has three threatres of operation. The one in the West was in Spain and it's called the Reconquista. The one in the South (since Moslems occupied Sicily, Corsica and several other islands) doesn't really have a name, but the Sutheastern French and Italian nobility managed to recover those islands, destroy the Cathers and drive the Angevenians into the sea. The third part of the war is called WWI. The Allies broke the back of the Ottoman Empire which allowed them to totally resolve the Greek Civil War and create Yugoslavia (for whatever purpose that served).

The Crusades focused on a single issue and that was to keep the right to undertake pilgrimages to the Holy Land.

If you viewed my profile, you would see that I am an old freeper, former Baptist Boy Scout (Royal Ambassador), son of a Deacon and Sunday School Superintenedent and agnostic.

I can discuss the Bible all day. I can also demonstrate that the existence of prophesy precludes the existence of free will, if you have a couple of hours and an IQ over 120.

I have never thought we should have supported Israel because of what the Bible says.

"I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you."
That's what God says about Israel, and it is in the Bible.
Funny thing is, out of all the countries over in the MidEast, how many besides Israel have an elected representative governemnt?
And last I knew, it wasn't Israel that has been trying to kill us.

I have yet to read the entire Bible. And I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Skip the chapters about who begat who. It's like listening to grampa talking about the family of his second cousin.

And what are you trying to imply by that?
You can name your farm any darn thing you want.
Paint it pink and call it Jeanette for all I care.
Again, last I knew, it wasn't Israel trying to kill us.

Nice personal attack. Its ok I have come to expect that from liberals. I grew up in the church its my life and the book of daniel say they will try to change God's laws and times. I pray that satan leaves you and your anger.

Uhh.. that's not a personal attack.
Your comment is trollish in nature.
If you read the Bible as you claim, you'd notice that it does indeed say that God will bless those who bless Israel.
