According to How Stuff Works:

As the newly elected pope accepts his new role, it is tradition for him to select a new name. This papal tradition dates to 533 and the election of Pope John II, whose birth name was Mercurius, according to the Catholic Encyclopedia.

Good thing, because I don't think Pope Benedict XVI (formerly Cardinal John Ratzinger) would be too happy if that task were left to the Kos Kids.

They've decided to call him "Ratf*****"

Here are a few examples.

I did see comments from a couple of dissenters. One seemed primarily concerned that calling the Pope "Ratf*****" would make them "No better than Republicans," and that it wouldn't help their efforts to win voters in "purple states."

They're all about PR, you know.

The other opined that members of the reality-based community should maintain their intellectual honesty and fight fair, suggesting that just calling him a "nazi" would be sufficient.

Right. No need for profanity.

There are not enough hours in the day to fit in all the prayers that are needed to save these pour souls from their pending fate.

Indeed. I hated to post this, but it is important to show how vicious and hideous these people are. DailyKOS has connections to the Dean presidential campaign, by the way.
