I sit here on a Tuesday morning wondering what has happened to our news establishments. Normally I denounce the liberal media, but last night normally conservative news sources were awash with the story of the "runaway" bride.
It is not that I do not feel for this poor soul, I just think there stories of greater significance to the world than hers. Some of those to consider:
• United Nations reassessing Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty • North Korea fires missile into sea of Japan • Secretary of State Rice holds her ground vs. Kim Jong IL • Iraqi government set to be sworn in • Australian contractor held hostage in Iraq • Freeway shootings in Los Angeles • Minutemen project to start in California • Firefighter wakes up after 10 years (remember Terri Schiavo?) • . . . just to name a few
I understand that this woman got cold feet. I understand that she cut her hair and bought her bus ticket well in advance. I understand that the police spent time and money searching for her. I believe the poor woman needs help. I do not, however, regard this as front page news!
Yeah, don't these people know that THERE IS A WAR ON?

It's kind of like televising the Mary Kay Letourneau wedding. If no one would watch it, they wouldn't televise it.
