Amnesty International's Secretary General Irene Zubaida Khan calls the US Prison at Guantanamo Bay ''the Gulag of our times''.
It is hard to imagine a comparison of the treatment of detainees at Gitmo to the treatment of people at the Soviet Gulags.
David Limbaugh in a recent column quotes from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's book ''The Gulag Archipelago''. An excerpt: ''....interrogation by torture would be practiced in Russia; that prisoners would have their skulls squeezed within iron rings; that a human being would be lowered into an acid bath; that they would be trussed up naked to be bitten by ants and bedbugs; that a ramrod heated over a primus stove would be thrust up their ...''. The whole quote is too sickening to publish.
Comparatively, at Gitmo, the Pentagon confirmed that a soldier intentionally kicked a Koran.
We are at war. I do not expect our soldiers to treat the enemies of our country like honored guests. But this over the top comparison of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility to the Soviet Gulags is beyond ridiculous and undermines the credibility of Khan and Amnesty International.

Just saw Oreilly's presentation on Gitmo. Wow! We are, in fact, treating them like honored guests. I say the proper way to treat these creeps is to "Kill them all and let God sort them out!" Ooops...I almost forgot my senisitve nature for a minute.
Hey, let Amnesty International call Gitmo a gulag. When we grab a bad guy in Baghdad and whisper in his ear "talk here, or talk at Gitmo" it will maybe loosen some lips.
