Toronto-- Long harboured Canadian resentment of Canada being annexed by the United States took a 90-degree angle on July 1 with Frank McKenna, Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, turning the tables. McKenna says he will organize the more than 1 million Canadians in the United States to lecture Americans.

McKenna, who’s already sent messages to 6,000 expatriates, intends to get in touch with 100,000 of them by week’s end. The rookie ambassador is pressing the "Canadian diaspora" to arm themselves with facts, to debate Americans and to get out and lobby when Washington makes decisions that can hurt Canadians, says the Toronto Star.

Fighting the U.S. on its own soil, albeit by stealth, McKenna is calling to action Florida snowbirds, northern exiles in Arizona, Hollywood comedians and actors, investment bankers in New York and professors and students at universities across the U.S.

I still think the U.S. should do an immigration deal with Canada. All the whelpers in the U.S. who want to go to Canada can do so in trade for good Canadians who want to live in the U.S.

I live in Toronto. Though my family originally settled in the prairies and badlands, back when it was really rough. The last two generations are almost all in the large cities though. Toronto and Edmonton mainly, with some in Vancouver and a few in Winnipeg.

The Conservatives are scattered across the country. That's the problem; the only place where they are actually politically concentrated enough to matter is the West, and a few Ontario suburbs (but those swing back and forth).

I am Canadianborn and bred as was my father and grandfather. By religion I am Jewish. I joined the Alliance Party the day I turned 16, though it has since merged into the Conservatives. I changed the title because of a joke which I think is funny. The title is a common Internet joke that began from a poor translation of a Japanese video game in the early 90s when it was ported from Japan. "All your base are belong to us" was the original line. Also well known is "for great justice!". The game is Wing Commander Zero. Obviously, I am a bit of a nerd. Here is the image. First ignore Quebec as they would likely go independent.

In the Senate, Alberta would likely send 2 Republicans, the rest of the west (and possibly New Brunswick) would likely send a split delegation. Ontario would send 2 Democrats (due to Toronto's power) and possibly Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. PEI is too small to be a state, but could be admitted as a territory or with Nova Scotia.

New Senators: 10 Democrats, 6 Republicans. Not enough to change the balance of power (it would then be 61-54-1).

In the House, it would be a lot more complicated. Here is my estimated House makeup for seats from each province-turned-state:

British Columbia (6) - 3 Dem, 2 GOP, 1 Ind
Alberta (5) - 4 GOP, 1 Dem
Saskatchewan (2) - 1 Dem, 1 GOP
Manitoba (2) - 1 Dem, 1 GOP
Ontario (18) - 11 Dem, 6 GOP, 1 Ind
New Brunswick (1) - 1 Dem (narrowly)
Nova Scotia (1) - 1 Dem
Newfoundland (1) - 1 Dem
Prince Edward Island (1 nonvoting)

The makeup of that House based on the current makeup would be 246-222-3, which after redistribution changes to 227-205-3, which makes very little difference.

The Independents are socialists elected in the central Vancouver (Libby Davies?) and central Toronto (Jack Layton?) districts

Southern New Brunswick has a strong conservative population as well...

I didn't forget about the rural areas. But the problem is that the conservatives in many of the rural areas don't actually vote Conservative, and sometimes don't vote. Those ridings keep going Liberal, election after election. Not saying you aren't strong numerically, but since it's first past the post...you know how it is. I have some friends from Southern New Brunswick. Even the liberal ones are fairly socially conservative.
