My daughter was born Dec 24th 1968 while the Apollo 8 was orbiting the Moon. I suggested Apollonia, (Michael's Sicilian bride in the "GodFather") but was nixed. Still think it's an okay handle!!

Wow--I have two girls with high end white names from the 90's. Do I get a raise. . . . ?

I never understood self-conscious, made up names. What's wrong with Christian names? Paul, Steven, James, Michael...?

I wonder if that story about the boy named "Nosmo King" is true, or urban legend.

We have a little baby girl due in December and every name I think I like one day I end up hating the next day. I joke about resurrecting one of the gemstone names "Ruby, Opal, Pearl" or else the flower names "Rose, Petunia, Daisy."

I see my son's name on the "whitest" list but I don't know any other boy with it.

I'm going to tip my hat to the low-end whites. It looks like they do a better job naming their kids than the high-end whites, at least among the girls. "Madison" is not a good girl's name. And Alexandra will just get shortened to Alex, so it becomes gender-neutral. If I have girls, they are going to get girl's names. "Amber" and "Heather"--now those are old-fashioned classy names.

If I have offended any Madisons or Alexes out there, I'm sorry. But remember, blame your parents, not me.

:)

My eight year old son is named Richard and he goes by Ricky. We have yet to meet another Richard or any derivative in any school class or outside activity.

In 1st grade he had two Greyson's, and two Harrison's in the same class. He's had numerous friends named Blake, Chase and Chandler.

People try to be so original but, IMO it comes off as contrived. Most of the names I hear today probably come from their mom's favorite soap opera.
