The following is an email I sent to the Gold Star Families for Peace. After reading of a family who went to Crawford to make sure their son's name was removed from a cross being used in protest, I decided to write them also asking that my cousin's name NOT be used as well. If anyone can suggest other contacts to send this to, asking that his name not be used, please post accordingly and I will write them as well. Thanks in advance.:
Please publish a list of the names on the crosses that have been used as part of the protest in Crawford. My cousin, Jeremy McHalffey, was killed in Iraq on Jan 4. He was a volunteer, having served in both the United States Marine Corps and the Arkansas National Guard. I know Jeremy, and his parents, would NOT want his name associated with ANY anti-war protest movement. The following link is to an article with a statement from his brother indicating Jeremy volunteered to serve his country:

The following link is to an article written by the Operations Officer of the Jeremy's unit. Having read this article Jeremy's mother understood the meaning of what he was there to do:

While you do have the right as citizen of this country to protest, you DO NOT have the right to use other people's names while doing it. You ESPECIALLY do not have the right to use the names of people who have died defending YOUR freedoms, while you protest against them.
Please provide me with confirmation as to whether or not Jeremy's name is on one of the crosses and, if so, confirmation that it has been removed.
Regards, XXXXXXXXXXXX
I am so sorry for your loss. May the good Lord comfort your family. And now you have to deal with this? It is shameful.

Bump... sincere condolences. Thank you for sharing your hero with us.
If you (or anyone else) can get the names that appear on the crosses at the Sheehan demonstration site, then find the parents and contact them. If at least 20 such pairs of parents send me the following letter, plus $1 (Perry Mason time, so I am officially their attorney), I will act as instructed.
Letter to John Armor. Esq.:
We understand that the name of our son [NAME] is being used by Cindy Sheehan and others as part of an anti-war demonstration in Crawford, Texas. We deny any right of Ms. Sheehan to use the name of our son, and his death in Iraq, for any such purpose.
Therefore, we authorize John Armor, Esq., as our attorney in this matter, and authorize him to go to the site of this demonstration, go onto public property like any other citizen, and either remove the cross bearing the name of our son, or to obliterate his name on that cross, so his name is not associated in any way with that demonstration.
Enclosed is $1 to confirm that Mr. Armor is our legal representative in this matter, with full authority to speak and act in our behalf to protect the good name of our son, and of the nation for which we fought.
Signed, [PARENT] [PARENT]
Once I get at least 20 such letters in hand, I will go to Crawford to carry out those instructions. I will ask some of the larger and better-trained counter demonstrators to accompany me on this effort, as it is logical to expect that the Sheehan people will attempt violence to prevent me from carrying out these instructions.
I will also undertake this project on behalf of FreeRepublic, as well.
Eagles up.

So sorry for your loss.
I suspect your request will be ignored.
Thank you for your offer. If/when I hear back from them concerning the names on the crosses, I'll follow up as best I can. If there any way, legally, to compell them to give us the list of names?
My sincere sympathy and prayers to your family.
Thanks. What a wonderful thing for you to offer.
Any ideas?
In short, our people can get the names. (Actually, a friendly in the media could probably hand us the names, in return for an exclusive heads up about the effort to remove or paint over some of the crosses.) Don't count on the DUmmies to give us the names.
John / Billybob
Sorry, I had to go get a bike ride before it got too late. I see in this an ongoing counter effort to the anti-war activists using the members of our military who have died for their own agendas. If we can get enough parents to sign up, we can counter them everytime they try to use the names.
There is a website
Casualties.org/oif/
It has lists of all the casualties and there is a list where the names are broken down by state. You can find the town or city but it does not list addresses.
Someone in the local area needs to go down the line of crosses with a video camera to collect the names.
Here is the list. http://icasualties.org/oif/US_NAMES.aspx
However, by the time we got this done and tried to locate parents or family for each of these heroes, Ms Sneehan and her great entourage of the unwashed, will have moved on.
They plan to pull out of Crawford by the 31st at the latest.
Probably--(I'm guessing here), they will next camp out in the DC area, if their plan is to "be near the president". They will then be under the watchful eye of the magnificiient DC Chapter of FreeRepublic!!
