I am not an architect, but here is my 9/11 architectural philosophy: War memorials should memorialize war. If you want peace and understanding and healing and good will toward all, go build Kabbalah centers.

Please, for the sake of those who have sacrificed, let's put the design of war memorials in the hands of creative people committed to erecting monuments of courage over capitulation.

I just called this number and spoke with Adam who is taking comments on the proposed Memorial. Superintendent Hanley is unavailable.

He told me the name has been changed from 'Crescent of Embrace' to 'Circle of Embrace'....but he said it is a broken circle interruped by path of the plane's crash site.

I said that just changing the name isn't the solution and that the offensive crescent symbol must be removed or modified.

I asked if there will be public hearings before the Memorial plan is finalized.

He was uncertain....but he said I could leave my name & address to be put on a list to receive written notice early in 2006 when the NPS's 'General Management' discusses the final plans.

He also took down my comments objecting to the present proposal.

It was the architect's intention ( and the like minded people who promoted him ) to create a tribute to the terrorists. Changing the name of the tribute doesn't change the intent.

Thank YOU for calling and then posting an update!

I didn't receive a response to my contacts by email and fax. I tried suggesting that if this design is going to cause such an uproar, perhaps they should select something that directly honors the victims and their sacrifice.

I understand the design may look nice from the ground - and from the side - when it is built, but from the air - where the heroes of Flight 93 fought for - and to - their deaths - it resembles exactly the islamic crescent. And as an architect - who should have extensive knowledge of symbolism in his schooling - he should know better.
