Sackings are becoming routine at ABC Radio, where conservative morning show host Melanie Morgan has been yanked from San Francisco's KSFO-AM without warning. What happened?
In a statement to Move America Forward supporters, an activist organization she heads, Morgan said she was unexpectedly asked to return her door access card Friday.
After contract renegotiations between station management and her agent hit an impasse late in the week, Disney/ABC suits simply pulled the plug and kicked her out of Mickey's Front Street Mouse Pad.
As word leaked out late in the weekend, some (such as SactoDan, here) wondered if it was merely a publicity stunt for KSFO, but that's exactly what was said about Michael Graham when he disappeared from WMAL/Washington.

Well, per her own words, her contract expired on Friday - her last day of work, and the management and her agent have not come to an agreement about her contract renewal. This is not "fired", nor even close. The pre-existing contractual obligations have been fulfilled, contract expired - that's all.
You've heard about the plunge in ratings in talk radio world, well their show has been immune from that - even while KSFO overall has seen some weakness in the rest of the daytime's ratings.
For some reason ABC decided to play hardball and booted her off the air part of Friday and again today.
You don't do that to your top-rated talent.
I can only imagine what liberals would be doing if a top-rated liberal talk show host was relieved of their job by conservative station management. Because that's the problem here... KSFO is owned and operated by ABC executives and the managment staff at the station are left-wing Democrats. They obviously didn't like Melanie's work for conservative causes (the recall, MTBE, SmogCheck, support the troops with Move America Forward, outing Cindy Sheehan's family being against her, going to Iraq to support the troops, leading the backlash against Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11).
That's the real story here. Thankfully KSFO listeners and conservative activists around the nation flooded the station with phone calls and emails and FAXes after she was pushed out on Friday. Because that probably saved her job and prevented her from becomming the next Michael Graham of ABC.
We here at Free Republic sometimes eat our own and are way too passive in coming to the support of our leaders when they need our help. I went back and read those Michael Graham posts today and couldn't believe that there was not more of an organized effort here at FR to back Graham up. So many posters here say they feel the exact same way as how Graham did, but so many of the threads had few posts and less than 1,000 page views.
Here the reaction was stronger in defense of Melanie, but there still are many who sought to contemplate minor points that in their minds overode the larger point - one of our own was targeted by the left-wing media establishment, and she needed our help and support.
I am not in CA but if there is any way I can help Melanie me and mine would be happy to.
You got it. We'll find out more later today if Mel's been saved or not. Thanks for the post. I sent this thread - and the other 2 on this topic to Melanie to read.
According to an update on the link above, she will be back on air tomorrow. Her new contract runs for 21/2 years.
I heard her this morning when I was flipping around. Lee was being poopy so I didn't leave it on that station.
