Why is the FairTax better than our current system? Our present tax system is one of the reasons that people are finding it so difficult to get ahead these days. It is one of the reasons the next generation may not have a standard of living as high as this generation. Cars replaced the horse and buggy, the telephone replaced the telegraph, and the FairTax replaces the income tax. The income tax is holding us back and making it more difficult than it needs to be to improve our families standard of living. It makes it needlessly difficult for our businesses to compete in international markets. It wastes vast resources on complying with needless paperwork. We can do better and we must.
Actually Willie was shown several years ago that his excisse/tariff thing to replace corporate income tax wasn't productive to even replace THAT - let alone any present income tax.
So now he's saying that BOTH the tariffs and present income tax would be neat???
Talk about foolish. That's snake oil personified.
As an illustration of his ignorance, I see that he says anyone can "find out where they're spending it" by analyzing the budget.
Hell, even committees of economists aren't able to do that the costs are so well hidden. Many do not even appear in the budget at all such as the costs we all pay in increased priced due to the cascading, embedded business income tax cost (plus tax compliance costs also). there are also costs due to modification of activities due to the tax system.
A way to find out the cost of government??? That's just nonsense.
"A way to find out the cost of government??? That's just nonsense."
I know. Total nonsense. Out of a population of almost 300 million people, I wonder how many of us have the analytical ability to analyze the federal budget and calculate what our individual share of that is.
Better yet - out of 435 congressmen/women, I wonder how many of them could do it.
I'll bet if you polled the Squirrels, they'd claim to have it down pat to a man - and probably criticize you for even asking.
As for the CongressPersons - hmmm! Approx 0 ... if I'm not allowed to use negative integers.
