Rep. John Murtha, who made headlines for his call to pull American troops immediately out of Iraq, has called on his daughter to immediately and unconditionally leave her suburban Pa. home.
Murtha believes his daughter is trapped in a helpless parenting dilemma, as her twin boys frequently warn each other when trouble is brewing with Mom.
The home, purchased in March 2002, is home to Murthas daughter, son-in-law, and two boisterous grandchildren. Parenting problems with the twin boys, 2, have caused increased strain on the family. A recent incident involving a broken vase has led Rep. Murtha to call for his daughter to abandon the toddlers to the 2500 square foot, Cape Cod- style home.
She cannot continue on the present course, said Murtha. It is evident that continued parenting is against the best interests of my daughter, her husband, and the entire Murtha family.
The AP reports that Murtha, a father of three himself, has extensive parenting experience. A pro-discipline hawk, he has been noted for beingreliably on his daughters side when problems with the grandkids have arisen. This is unusual for a grandparent, who are normally indulgent with their grandchildren..
But as the boys progress through their terrible twos, Rep. Murtha sees an increasing intractable discipline situation which seems to grow worse every day, and which he has become convinced will only be solved by abandoning the willful children to their own devices.
Before the boys third birthday, in mid-December, those two must be put on notice that their parents will immediately redeploy,' he said.
Withdrawing from the home would give the boys an incentive to take control, he said.
My daughter as a stay-at-home mother is just not going as advertised, Murtha said. It is a flawed plan wrapped in illusion.
[Editors Note: Although Murtha said basically the same thing when the boys were six months old, during a particularly bad bout of colic, Point Five is only getting around to reporting this story now because, unlike the MSM, were just blatantly irresponsible hack bloggers.]
