On January 4, FNC's Special Report with Brit Hume aired a segment that discussed Hollywoods portrayal of terrorism. The story, airing at 6:38PM, featured a quote from George Clooney, star and producer of "Syriana." The clip appeared to be from the movies press junket. Fox News reporter William La Jeunesse stated that "'Syriana' is based on the true story of a CIA operative sent to assassinate Saddam Hussein." He adds:
"But in the hands of actor/producer George Clooney, the story changes Saddam into an benevolent Arab prince. And Hezbollah saves the agent's life. Americans are shown to be greedy and corrupt, while suicide bombers are presented as freedom fighters." Real Player or Windows Media
Mr. Clooney elaborated on his reasons for making the films suicide bombers so sympathetic:
"They are, in a way, the most sympathetic, but I think that's important. Because if you are going to fight a war on terror, which is not a state that you can go and bomb, then you need to understand what it is that creates the people who would do such horrible things, rather then just saying- labeling them as evildoers."

Brit Hume: "With terrorism in the headlines nearly every day since 9/11, moviemakers have tried to capitalize on the interest of Americans by producing fictional films on the issue. But their portrayals of individual terrorists appear, to at least some critics, to be fictitious in more then one sense."
William La Jeunesse: "The movie Syriana is based on the true story of a CIA operative sent to assassinate Saddam Hussein, an agent's near murder by Palestinian terrorists from Hezbollah. But in the hands of actor/producer George Clooney, the story changes Saddam into an benevolent Arab prince. And Hezbollah saves the agent's life. Americans are shown to be greedy and corrupt, while suicide bombers are presented as freedom fighters."
Clooney: "They are, in a way, the most sympathetic, but I think that's important. Because if you are going to fight a war on terror, which is not a state that you can go and bomb, then you need to understand what it is that creates the people that would do such horrible things, rather then just saying- labeling them as evildoers."
I don't think we should do either (understand or label them) - I think we should just make them dead.
This MORON should stick to his mediocre acting.

Syriana--Budget, @$50mil, total US box office so far, @$40mil
Cut from the take the theater cut, the ad budget, and this sucker's bleedin' out.
Just like a lot of Clooney's movies of late:

Minus the ensemble movies Oceans 11 and 12, he hasn't had a movie break $50mil since A Perfect Storm in 2000!
We need to understand the terrorist in order to more efficiently kill them.
Know thy enemy.
If you do not know your enemies motives, you can not reliably predict his actions.
Of course Clownys motivation in his film is not to promote knowledge of the terrorist motives in killing themselves and their victims but to promote sympathy for the terrorist and his cause.
The guy is a traitor to his country.
The fourth precept of gun safety; LOADED, MUZZLE, TRIGGER and number four, know your TARGET and what's behind it.
All I need to know about Islam, I learned on 9/11.
You can't spell Clooney without "looney."
We could kill them, then understand them at our leisure.
Let's look at the leader board:
Syriana (2005) -- FLOP
Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) -- FLOP (but made some $$ because Clooney comp'ed em)
Ocean's Twelve (2004) -- FLOP (broke even=flop in Hwd)
Intolerable Cruelty (2003) -- MEGA-FLOP
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) -- FLOP
Solaris (2002) -- ISHTAR-LEVEL FLOP
Welcome to Collinwood (2002) -- FLOP!
So the last movie Loonie Cloonie was featured in that didn't die in the box office was Ocean's 11 -- and that was a boring and unecessary remake of an originally good movie by the Chairman Of The Board.
I didn't count Spy Kids -- he is a cameo.
The misunderstood sobs killed over 130 today alone in Iraq, every victim an innocent civilian.
Missed the interview - would not have if Sirius had not dropped Fox News. . .mind you - but hope Brit politely nailed Clooney. . .but have a feeling he probably was a little too polite. . .?
George Clooney is a dork.
That Gulf War movie he made was also horrible. The only movie he ever made that I liked was the one where he was an escaped convict in the 30s. He was in his element, playing a hillbilly.
Not only is his movie a flop. His character looks like it's Paul Krugman!!!
