HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Haleigh Poutre's birth mother is expected to file a court motion seeking more of a say in her daughter's medical care.

Allison Avrett plans to appear in Holyoke Juvenile Court on Wednesday.

Haleigh, 12, has been hospitalized since police say her adoptive mother and stepfather severely beat her in September.

About a week after taking custody of the Westfield girl in September, the Department of Social Services sought permission to remove her from life support.

It is hard to stop a dog that begins to wag. Everything will turn out as planned.

I never knew you could do with ultrasound what you can do with the $1.98 kitchen gadget.

I don't think I want to hear about it, either :-)

Don't let those disappear! As much as it upsets me to watch those, they are video testimony about Terri's true condition soon after Michael was awarded money but refused Terri's therapy. I would love to see criminal charges brought against him and to see their court romm testimony with cross examination. Remember that Carla's accusations were among some of those files that had been discarded by DCF or some other agancy, which was discovered at the beginning of 2005. I ache for Terri's family, and for those others who are undergoing similar circumstances but without the attention.

Good for Pamela! I'm excited that she is taking her involvement in a new direction. I think if we can begin to tackle euthanasia and health care from many different angles, maybe we can get somewhere.

ROTFLOL! My bad ;-) I was alluding to sperm banks and invitro fertilization in regards to the essential holiday dinner tool, not ultrasound machines. Lol, need to scrub my brain now ;-D

As much as it upsets me to watch those, they are video testimony about Terri's true condition soon after Michael was awarded money but refused Terri's therapy.

As far as I know, every single affidavit presented to Judge Greer in Terri's defense was deemed not credible and rejected. Just like the one below, also.

William P. Cheshire Jr. - Mayo Clinic neurologist

"To enter the room of Terri Schiavo is nothing like entering the room of a patient who is comatose or brain-dead or in some neurological sense no longer there," - Dr. Cheshire - 3/23/05

Greer, who denied a request from Bush to let the state intervene in the case to resume Schiavo's feeding and hydration, also rejected Cheshire's affidavit.

I am really sick with how much Greer had his mind made up from the first trial. The 2000 trial was just a show for him. How much evidence he would not consider just shows how closed his mind was on the issue. That Terri suffered the way she did upon his order, well, I hope that his conscience will get the better of him someday.

In vitro costs about $200 million and either doesn't work or gives you quintuplets.

The $1.98 kitchen gizmo from Wal-mart is sort of like a miniature Nascar event. About 200 million little macho boy thingies are in the race. There is only one winner. He gets to fool around with a girl thingie. The other 199,999,999 boy thingies are disappointed and kick stuff around and say "oh, darn" and knock down a few beers.

Just saw this. It's one of the better articles out there. The way they cut and paste on the other outlets have left a lot out of the original.
http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/breaking_news/14088728.htm

Compare it to the shortened version that my family will get to read in today's paper:

Interesting difference, huh? I hate what the media did to Terri and the Schindlers. So little of the real truth was put out there. People were so misinformed.

That's a nice way of putting it. He wasn't closed minded, he knew exactly what he was doing. That's just the way it is with premeditated murder.

I was ready to puke from the bias of the long version. This WAS an AP writer, after all. Frankly, it's kind of a relief to glance at the second version and just be glad it's shorter. They both stink.

Note one small, revealing detail, though. Here is the AP headline: "New book chronicles Schiavo saga from family's perspective"

So the Schindlers are "family" now. The media were careful not to mention that a year ago. Didn't we hear all the pro-death voices say this should be a FAMILY decision and that the government should stay out of it? Of course the government was in it all along -- brought into it by lawsuits by Michael; and the government prevented Terri's family from having any say in her fate. Her in-laws killed her.

Mitch Stacy has never been one to give the Schindlers much sympathy. I'm surprised by how he portrayed Mary Schindler. One wonders what she really said, and how much he left out of any interview.

You make a good point that at long last the Schindlers are considered Terri's family. It's shameful that it has taken this long to designate them as such.

I only know of one lawsuit, the one that he brought against Jeb in 2003 - "Terri's Law".

Michael, with testimony from Brian and Joan Schiavo. None of them blood relatives.

He sued to have the tube removed, didn't he? "Lawsuit" may be the wrong word, but as I recall he did initiate legal action of some kind to get his way.

Doesn't sound right. He asked the courts approval.

The question came up fairly recently. Some writer brought up that Michael was the one who dragged in the law, and the background info seemed right. But I'm foggy on details. If it matters, we should go find the info. Not tonight, thank you :-)

I'm siding with T'wit on this one. Michael asked the court's permission because it wasn't legal to do it when he first sought to remove it. Until then, the court was not involved. Michael is the one who initiated the legal proceedings. At least this is how I look at it.
